Well respected former Western Springs promoter Harley Arthur passed away peacefully on Sunday. Harley was the speedway promoter from 1963 to 1972, a time of great innovation at the Springs, and will be fondly remembered by many.
His memorial service will be at 10am on Thursday the 1st of September at Morrison Funeral Chapel, 220 Universal Drive, Henderson.

What a shock to hear of Harleys passing. I knew Harley very well as we worked together at Waikaraka Park when I was doing the track work. One of the best joke tellers in the business, & a genuine guy to boot. Sincere condolences to his family

Here we go again losing a speedway person to the great race track in the sky.
R.I.P Mr Arthur prepare that track to the 100% way you can for all those top drivers up there with you
