Is there any other drivers out there that have returned from injury?
After being injured 2004 in a stockcar i have made full recovery with medical clearance and i am attempting to return to racing in a Superstock this coming season.
My injury's took my life at the time but my passion for the sport and the invite to drive a superstock was to tempting.
I am looking for all drivers thoughts in all classes Would you race with me?

The hardest bit to fix is between the ears . Dont come out until you feel ok in yourself to do so, dont let any one preassure you, then have some fun.

After an injury in which I fractured the C6 vertebrae in my neck in 98 I was out of racing for 12 weeks. After much consideration and advice from medical persons I resumed racing straight away. I think it's entirely up to the individual as to whether you think your ready to race or not. I know that I was scared nutsless on the green light of my first race.

Paddy, good to see you havent lost the spirit mate. I had a massive stroke due to a bleed in the brain 22 years ago now at the age of 30 and spent 2 months in a coma and then 6 months in rehab wondering if I was ever going to walk again let alone race again. It took a few years but i went back to it and enjoyed it even more on returning. One thing you realise after having a life threatening injury or illness is that you have to live every day as if it may be your last and while that is hard to digest it is unfortunately true. Many of our fellow stockies have had injuries that nearly killed them and chose to not race again, while a few have returned. It comes down to your own mental attitude and your own willingness to get fully fit before returning and to also ensure that you do as much as possible to ensure your own physical safety with the best gear you can manage to get.
In the end it is only up to you yourself to decide the risks involved and how you will handle it yourself.
One thing is true though...the passion for the class never dies...good luck and I will be joining you later in the season.
(maybe we are both stupid ;D ;D ;D )

After a crash in which I fractured the C6 vertebrae in my neck i raced the next meeting. But when i shattered my knee and broke above my knee and below my knee i missed the rest of the season and the crashed happened on April the 1st.

Paddy good on you. I had a good one in the new year 2007, fractured a vertebrae, My heart stopped twice due too bleeding on the way to the hospital, (never saw any lights) Returned 7 weeks later not 100% sure. but the 1st race was a hell of a rush, got a good hit in it and headed for the infield , sat out 2 laps then though Bull Sh*t to this. drove back on too the track ;D, raced the rest of the season, Just make sure you got the best gear, and you feel sweet, Good luck . Aaron 7A ( stockcar )
