I think Grant covered most of the answers,if you feel ready and are hungry enough then there is nothing to stop you, even though you feel confident in returning once in the car and lining up for your first race back you will become apprehensive though once into the race and after a few knocks things will be fine.No matter whom i teams race against I dont let whoever Im racing against bother me ,if its the panthers or the shecats or whatever,i tell myself i have a job to do and its another day at the office. Its brave to come back from a serious injury, but if its what you want and love doing then by all means if you are ready go for it.

No other than the wife, the boys in Auckland were great, they all welcome me back, Club was great to, SNZ just wanted a clearance from the Dr's, Did you have anyone in the club or any of the other compeditor disagree with you or try to stop you from raceing?

good for you,Paddy. The desire never goes......but I'll never get medical clearance to race again,so............. If your partner's behind you(with my/our injuries they get very involved) and you've got the best gear you can find(seem to have that covered)go for it.................. Vic Neal

Paddy....
i'm not a driver but have been envolved in speedway for a while... one thing i have learnt about speedway/life, if its going to happen it will, and you can't change that, dont hide, get out there and have fun and live every day to the max

Nothing motivates Speedway drivers more than passion (or revenge). The amount of times I've taped, plastered, belted ( as in kidney belt, and seat belts) and pushed my partner into his car just to get him back on the track.... For the simple reason (that if I cant beat him join him) that if he wants to be out there then thats where he'll be.... If anyone wants to keep you off the track, then they better be prepared to take a hit or two, cause all drivers are the same...If they Can Race they will Race....
Good Luck.

Just make sure you have the best safety gear available to you.

This may sound morbid, but having conducted funerals of people who died doing what they loved, it seems to be alot easier for the family and friends to cope with. The hardest funerals to conduct are ones of people that have died as spectators to life. I would certainly recommend to live a life you enjoy and if the worst happens at least your loved ones have vital, alive memories of you. Sorry to bring this up and I hope not to see any more speedway fatalities. But is always a possibility, better to go out living life to the full.
