Does anyone have a rough idea of the boat cost to cross the strait with a Landcruiser towing a trailor with a supersaloon on it?Would be early January. Is night a cheaper time?

Thanks for that The Dark One. If I go alone and shrink everything down a little , it may just be affordable. Lol

Try Strait shipping, much better price but no frills.

Another option is to see if you know of any trucks that are crossing the straight with room on board. Then drop the driver abit of cash and he'll take the tralier. Its a long shot but iv moved a few cars around the country this way.. It doesnt save huge amounts of money but it all helps eh...

I took my Surf with trailer and stockcar on it when i relocated from Blenheim to Taranaki recently using the bluebridge/strait shipping, cost was $120 for the surf and $120 for the trailer and stockcar, by far they were the cheapest (interislander wanted $420 one way) in fact bringing my cars across by the bluebridge, driving up to the naki, then flying back to Blenheim(so i could finish off work and bring my other car up) was $30 cheaper than just going across on the interislander, sure its no frills but they have a bar and decent tucker at reasonable prices, takes 1/2 hour longer tho, also if you mention snz when you book (do it by phone or in person) you get a discount as well 15% i think it was, note tho that the discount isnt availiable over christmas

Last Feb I checked out options heading South to CHCH. On this occasion found the interislander the cheapest. Made the booking over the phone. Received a discount quoting motorsport as a code? Return trip was around $550 included, Discovery and trailer with saloon, one passenger. No different price, day or night sailing. I chose a 2am sailing. Enabled me to leave tauranga at mid-day. A comfortable 7 hour drive, 530kms) to the ferry. Stopped for break at friends in Paraparaumu. The 2am sailing has very few passengers and was able to get a good sleep while crossing to Picton, stretched across a lounge. Arrived in Picton feeling fresh and drove to until tired (1/2 way to CHCH). Had coffee, took a photo of the seals and slept for an hour. Cruised into CHCH at mid-day. My return ferry left Picton at 4am (raced Blenheim night before). Same deal, slept to Wellington. Off Ferry at 9am, arrived Tauranga 3.30pm. Awesome!

just bought a super from wellington to chch. Travel both ways with a long combo cost $590 return with 2 people. But that was a same day deal. Longer duration costs more. It all refers to interislander.

sorry 33c, twas I who wrote that at fluffy's place(on the booze). To answer, fluffy has steve britt's ex super, which he is loading up with the old yellow corvettes running gear. Craig Petrie sold his roller to Tim Ford (a new driver to A's). So that was me talking under fluffy's alias, sorry.

There was a motor sport Rate on the Inter Islander - ask for it, they will not offer it. Two years ago and 10 or so of us crossed and it was $100.00 tow wagon $100.00 trailer.

i asked for that rate when i was booking with interislander, was still $420 one way, so went with bluebridge @ $240, also people bluebridge will take just a car if someone is picking it up from either side, cost is $120 for a runner, $160 for a non runner and unlike interislander you dont have to accompany it ( on interislander you have a fare paying passenger to accompany it), also bluebridge would take a pallet of bits and pieces for $50 where as interislander wont even look at it, i wouldnt use interislander now unless i absolutly had to
