Loving these live streams of the big meetings! A big thanks to all involved and it's fantastic that they are free.
It would be awesome if these became the norm at championship meetings but commentary teams may be something for promoters to think about in the future.
After listening to Dave Birdling and whoever he had on the infield at the Super Saloons in Nelson I would say it went well. Tonight I tuned in just before the last heat and it was often hard to hear as there were two or on the odd time three people talking at once.
I'm not knocking the guys that were calling the action tonight as commentating is a very tough job in speedway especially with big fields of super stocks but it may be something to think about. Sometimes less is more!

I'm not knocking the guys that were calling the action tonight as commentating is a very tough job in speedway especially with big fields of super stocks but it may be something to think about. Sometimes less is more! Less isn't necessarily more if you're trying to paint a picture for those not seeing the picture magem. I think to make an informed comment, you probably needed to listen to the whole show, which began before 5.30pm, NOT just the final 10 minutes. You'd have got grid draws live from the clubrooms at drivers briefing, full grids, Paul Hickey & Mintie doing race commentary, placings, points, passing moves, relegations and promotions (with the reasons for each), plus interviews with all 26 finalists before the event and each retirement as they rolled out of the contest, an interview with the eventual winner as he prepared to do battle as the lone contender without a P on his door and the Top 3 immediately afterwards etc etc etc. Speedway is not a scripted and rehearsed show, but ad-libbed as the action unfolds and sometimes with only a very small window of opportunity to get that information out (so sometimes, although regretable, there is a little talking over the top or butting in to grab that titbit of infomation before a person, driver or otherwise, disappears). Craig Boote said afterwards it was the most professional commentary he'd ever heard at a motorsport event, but obviously it still didn't meet everybodies expectations.......next time you'll know not to shell out your hard-earned on tuning in. Oh, that's right, it was FREE and you're STILL whinging!! ;D

I think some people make too much out of a couple of people having a groan . by doing so you give them credence. try responding to the praise instead and you'll feel better.

I couldnt agree more Mr Macgor. Not sure why we are always focused on the negatives. On whole the sport is far far outweighed by positives.

I for one totally enjoyed the commentary. Yes Barry you are right. But i am learning very quickly that speedway is full of arrogant, ungrateful idiots that are obviously far superior than you or i ever will be. There's 2 things for this that i can see. Firstly, the amount of nuts that us 3 guys got about the quality of the stream on the first night. 6000 fn time we told people that Huntly have very very poor cell service to the track. In order for us to stream, we need to get a good and clear signal, otherwise it is as choppy as. My job for the speedway live team is to be the technical advisor for the streaming side of things. As many know, on friday and saturday i was streaming and commentating at Cromwell for the GP, but when i got home and heard aboutt he streaming probs from Huntly, as a team we got right on to it and produced a 600% better stream than the night before. By the end of it, we had no choppyness or cut outs. What makes it even worse is when a large crowd is at an event that we are trying to stream and they are all using the same cell site to send their messages or talk to whoever whilst they are waiting for racing to start. As predicted in the chatroom, I told people that the stream quality would improve after 8, as many would stop texting and start watching allowing for the cell site to give us a bit more bandwidth. Jason Walter wa also unaware that he could not use the streaming computer for anything else but streaming. Once he found this out.. BAMO away it went and everyone got to hear everything clear and crap free. To all you people that bagged us and told us that it was nuts, then just remember, we organised this in 3 days because we were gutted for you very people for not being able to watch it on speedbox. Seems there are some very ungrateful people out there. For those that were patient, we thank you very much. We no know the settings that we need for Huntly, so this will not be a problem in the future. We are still new to this, and its very much like setting up a car for the different types of tracks. We have learnt, now we move on.
The 2nd thing is the commentary itself. 2 words for yas .. BACK OFF!!! The commentary last night was on the verge of being 100%. If you listened from 5.30 till the end it was so informative everyone knew what was going on.. from grid draws to final placings. Furthermore, this constant attacks on commentators will not be tolerated. We are at the point that we are rethinking about what we are doing because of these people who make judgement. You as the public have gone form hearing nothing at all and moaning about that, to being able to listen to the action as it unfolds. Furthermore, if we see any further attacks on commentators, then we have your IP address and will simply ban you from ever listening to a feed again. Harsh i know, but come on guys look at the positives that has happened. Thank you Paul Hickey, Mintie and Barry Brown... You guys rocked and a extra big thanks from the guys from Speedway Live for allowing us to listen in
