Oh yeah thats an idea ,, Anyone want a couple of free tickets NOT , duh Dont they already make enough out of ticket sales . ;D ;D Do they? how would you know? how much money do you think they invest on putting on a the show vs the return they get? Why don't you stop worrying about who's going to make money from it and go along and have a great time. And if you decide it's not worth your $100 plus program plus food for the weekend then simply don't come next year.

Who cares if the promotion makes a heap of money out of this weekend. Good on them. Remember they still have to pay the teams that come and that aint cheap, hence not too many superstock team events anymore. Enjoy the weekend, dont worry about the prices, dont worry about what you can or cant bring in, go with the flow, support your team and leave with a smile on your face, and remember to re-book your accommodation, cause we all keep coming back! ;D

Kia ora I have just called Arena Manawatu on 063561505 and asked them if it was okay for us to bring our KFC into the grounds for our whanau to eat and the answer was YES. You are allowed to take food in (even if it is a commercial food such as KFC or Pizza Hut or Ceasar salads) as long as it is for personal consumption. In other words it is not okay to take in 5 KFC buckets and sell 4 of them to your mates. The kai (food) must be for personal consumption and not for reselling which makes perfect sense to me. If you have seen security confiscating KFC or Pizza Hut or other commercial kai in the past I would be interested in knowing about it so I can call back ARENA Manawatu and get them to talk to their security. Or - you could call them to confirm. Phone 063561505. See you there - with your kai. Green flags and green lights and green salads.

I attended the superstock champs at huntly last wknd... the signs were there saying about bringing alcahole and glass bottles into the event.... I did see ppl with bottles , I wasnt really worried about it .... But I did stay till the very end end was astonished at the amount of glass there was on the grass . So what im trying to say is whats the point of having security guards that dont do their job... The security at palmy have a job to do not only for speedway but as this is also a council facility . They do it well.... usually those who take exception to it are the ppl the security are there for in the 1st place................. And I had no idea that promotors shouldnt make money out of NZs most premier event........ I suggest that those that think its all about money and capitalism should go and pitch yr tent in the palmy square.... grow yr hair long and dont shower for a month!

The venue belongs to Arena not the promoter. The vendors have negociated a contract with Arena for the right to operate there not the speedway promoter so i doubt very much bruce has any interest- financial or otherwise - in how they operate. Having negoiciated that contract i am sure the vendors would require Arena to put in place measures to protect their investment. if you own a cafe would you allow people to come ,sit down and eat the fish and chips they just bought along the road ? if you own a pub would you allow joe blogs to have a quiet seat in the corner to watch the sport on telly while sucking on a six pack he just bought from the supermarket ? Apart from the obvious business reasons there is also the law forbidding alcohol to be bought into or out of a licensed premises which is what Arena is. Its the law - not something they dreamed up to skrew us over. i think they are very lenient in allowing any commercial food in at all. see how you would get on at the 7s this weekend if you rolled up with a big mac and coke. Big tick Arena but causes your security boys some headaches at the gate though ! For every person who grizzled about the beachball being confiscated there were probably just as many quietly thinking - good job. last year at the start of night 2 a young fulla in the front of grandstand did the old volleyball smash to get the ball towards the back. it proceeded to smack a lady straight in the face only a few rows up, breaking her glasses and cutting the bridge of her nose. Ask her how the rest of her night was trying to watch the action in the middle with only one lense left in her glasses. This is not the 7s where you will have several hours of crap in the middle so you join half the crowd on the concourse and watch the telly (could do that at the Four Kings !). this is the nations premier speedway event with pretty much non stop action in the middle. i am not a kiljoy guys i just dont see the need to have rubber toys bouncing around with all that awesome entertainment out there. Security - poor beggars - they rank right up there with parking wardens dont they. Just remember they dont make the rules guys. if you see them checking a ladies purse or a kids backpack or grannies coat it is because experience tells them that these are regularly used to bring in forbidden items. Should it be shame on the Officer or should it be shame on dad when the guard finds a hip flask next to little johnnies chippies ? How gutless is that ?! but it happens all the time. Give them a break. They have a long day, most of it on their feet most people they come into contact with dont like them and they are barely paid more than the minimum wage. yes i am in the security industry but no i am not involved with the current provider which suits me just fine as I cant wait to take my seat at the greatest show on earth !!

yip real good post floyd
i would say that the bruce and the team would be lucky if they got 50 cents from each can.as the caterers and the council will take there cut first.were most speedway tracks own there own land or are on gifted land pn speedway hire this venue and really have there hands tied when it comes to food and drinks. they are just like the public have to follow the rules.
