One of the most famous and fantastic teams races ever, made even more enjoyable as I was sitting amongst a bunch of incredulous stunned-mullet Panther fans. Excellent!!

I think I remember that alloy...kings came out smoking and chugging like they couldnt get a car to run right and then took a win off the panthers...I was scratching my head wondering what the hell are these jokers doing turning up in this condition...then wham...panthers beaten...awesome... a bit of "rope a dope" I reckon... Kings started with 3 cars and it all looked impossible as a King ran in 3rd while the other 2 tried to block, but the hit at 10 seconds in this vid by a 3 wheeled mitty on the last corner took out 1st and 2nd running cars in one go with the Palmy blocker for good measure, and the 2Ks car cruised to victory. Was a wierd system that allowed the Panthers to meet the Kings again to exact brutal vengeance (2:17) and also take the title. Hopefully Rotorua and Auckland can knock them out of the top 4 on Friday this year.

any updates on live stream Only this, which was posted in another thread earlier in the week. The Palmy big-screen team are going to be trying a live 1-camera stream from the event - if Auckland's broadband is up to it!! If you definitely want to see the show, be there!!

How is it the tigers are a seeded team when Rotorua were third last year? shouldn't the Tigers and Rebels change groups??? Because last year there were six teams, this year there are nine, and that was the decision made by the promotion - the two finalists from last year + the Tigers. Several teams on this year's roster were not involved last year..........

I had wondered while this event is being rebuilt (no racing in 2010, only 6 teams in 2011), whether it should have been a completely random draw, but it is what it is.........

I agreed Barry, it should have bee random!!! Except then if the Rebels, Tigers and Panthers had of drawn the same group, we'd have been complaining about that as well haha

who cares if you have to race the panthers in the 1st race as to win the champs you going to have to beat them sooner or later.. Id care for sure if i was Rotorua, or even Auckland! If for example Auckland struggled and both Palmy and Rotorua get bulk points against them, and Rotorua narrowly beats Palmy, Then Rotorua could qualify, with Palmy getting the 4th spot, and then Rotorua would have to race Palmy again in the first round on the second night. Ugh.. that just reminds me when the Kings beat the Panthers, and then had to race them again and lost about 5 seasons back. DOH!, c'mon Rotorua, do it twice!
