Penn also uses the grass on the same corner at about 2.20 and then Rees cuts the pole on the very next corner to nail Wootten which in turn put Miers up the wall Rees cuts the pole line to nail Wootton? I think you'll find Wootton was well and truly over the pole before Rees, and with Rees chasing him by following his line. I'd also have said the Huntly car was further across the kerb than Rees was. And I'm also sure Rees' eyes would have beeen glued to the rear of Wootton's car, he wouldn't have been even able to see the pole line himself. Go back and take a second look at the footage....... I can certainly see why somebody suggested Rees had got confused and was racing for Waikato again. Bengston and Miers must have been wondering ;D No Scott Joblin on the second night? I can assure you peter Bengstons wife was ;D

(e) Any competitor deliberately driving infield (to avoid oncoming cars) for a sanctuary (to gain advantage) will attract a fine on the driver, or the driver may be excluded.
Could have this rule been inforced for the wootton diving to the grass incident?

Hadn't noticed that. Scott Joblin was there and had his car repaired from the night before but wasn't used in either race

I'm more worried about where all of these "oncoming cars" would be coming from. I thought they were all supposed to be going in the same direction........

Ah yes , but if you happen to be travelling in race direction but in reverse gear the trailing cars would then be oncoming

A very poor call to ping Penn for something most teams were allowed to get away with on both nights . Once again inconsistency creeps in and spoils the show .
While it was good to see a different team take the championship for a change it would have been a sweeter victory if the race was won fair and square . As the eventual winners actually flaunted the rules also, but were allowed to get away with it .

Looking at the video of the final, yes the ref got it right. But to be fair, and I am a staunch Wanderers and Kings supporter, it did look like Penn had just misjudged a hit on the Waikato car. That is what took him across the pole line, and so pretty unlucky for him. But that just my opinion. I'm in total support of this statement, apart from being the staunch supporter of said teams. Go the Gladiators. Palmy were just unlucky, the intent was to knock out of the way the other car.

After watching this I thought the bigger poll line infringement was on pens second lap as shown here at the 0.35 mark; Car was blocking his path, to save backing(against the direction of race) you may cross the pole, safety.

It was not a poor call to ping Shane the refs dont have playback to watch. The ref saw him cut the pole line as we all have in all the videos He might not have seen the others but if he pinged everyone who broke the rules who would have won the trophy the pace car or the water trucks. Bad luck Shane better luck next year

Sorry but it was a very poor call . Why did they wait for the very last race of the meeting to enforce the rules . Is this the only incident that was seen by the referee. Come on they are not that blind ..

If you read Kerry Remnants post on this it clearly states that all the drivers were warned about cutting the pole line before the final race. How's that make it a poor call, they were warned.

Ahh........... Teams racing and controversy. You gotta love it. This is the sort of debate that gets bums on seats next year to see the bad guys get their dues. Someone will always be right and someone will be wrong. Who the hell would be Speedway Referee? A necessary evil Bring it on in 2013. I missed this year I will not miss next years!!

Come on they are not that blind .. Maybe it was after warnings were all handed out pre race after earlier infractions, suck it up and move on.
