My memory of Jake is of him roaring up and down Allenby Street Melville on his solo bike 47 odd years ago.... made a hell of a racket... Loved It!! Thanks Jake

R.I.P. my friend and mentor. Jake you showed how you need to earn respect to be respected. You also showed me that with mutual support, even when not necessarily agreeing with each other on every matter, meant we could achieve infinitely more.
Your knowledge of your sport was so great that I can say I have seen no other person in any other sport who is comparable. Sometimes this was forgotten by some people; but not those who had the best interests of speedway in mind.
Your sense of humour got me through more meetings than I can remember. The fact that you made me believe watching sheep dog trials was better than going to visit a winery is astounding.
My best wishes goes to Carolyn and your family. You will be a huge loss to them and I hope they get the support going forward they need.
Cheers
Josh Cleaver

Yeah Jake was a good guy to talk to about anything . He had the ability to see the big picture while still being right in the middle of it . Respectfully 77k

Jake (which we now find out is an abbreviation of his nickname when he was young, Jacob Corncob!!) was farewelled in Hamilton this afternoon by a huge crowd that contained a large number of speedway people, including both past and current SNZ Board members, SPANZ people, Kihikihi and Huntly club members, former competitors and officials etc etc etc....even a former clown! A great day to remember a great man. R.I.P. Maurice "Jake" Pulman, Jan 17th 1944 ~ April 7th 2012.
