As a result of discussion in the Rebels thread thought I'd start a poll. Do you support an ex-1 NZ champ team at Palmy? I support the ex-1 NZ champs team at Palmy as one of the dilemnas for Palmy is the huge gulf between the stronger and weaker teams. That's been the case as clubs struggle at times with superstock numbers but who really wants to see the Panthers or Nelson smash to pulp weaker regional teams? What does that does really do for the competition? Nothing. A team of ex-NZ champs would bring a bit more grunt to the competition. No offence intended but the semi finalists again will probably be the seeded teams with the Panthers winning. Boring! Upsets are becoming few and far between. It's not the Panthers fault they have to continue putting their best team out and they do and that is fantastic you would expect nothing less. Bring on the ex-NZ champs I say and get some upsets! Do something different.

As awesome as a team of 1nzs would be I think the NZ teams champs should just be for regions which is why I also don't agree with teams having ring ins and tracks having more than team entered. If your track can't put together a team of their own registered drivers, then don't allow them to enter. How ever I would love to see a team of 1nzs put together for a different teams meeting, wheather in the Auckland teams champs or some kind of other teams meeting. would be pretty epic

I say no. Would only agree IF, after all regional teams were selected, there were a bunch of 5 former NZ Champions left over who were not selected by the local track, and IF there were only 11 teams entered that year and the promotion needed a 12th....and then only maybe.
Letting NZ Champions chose a composite team over their local outfit is only going to widen the gulf between the haves and the have-nots, maybe removing their only experienced team member in some cases. Mind you, the Panthers have been doing what they've been doing with NO current or former NZ Superstocks champions in their most-recent line-up ;D

Personally I don't support the idea at all. Inter-track rivalry is what teams racing is all about in my book.
Sure we might see a few teams not as competitive as we would like, but that makes it all the better when they get a win against the odds. Sure the Palmerston North, Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, Panthers may win enough times to make it predictable and maybe a little boring, but the race that has got the best crowd reaction in recent years was when Nelson thumped them.
Keep it track based I say.

Agree with B Brown, only if it was needed to make 12 teams, but not at the expense of making current teams weaker or worse not being able to field a side when they have contracted drivers in the 1nz side.

i think it should go ahead personally people are kind of forgetting its the enzed superstock teams champs as opposed to the NZ champs, while its regional now, i dont see the harm in more teams, most teams have ring ins now anyway, only a handful of teams have the numbers to field strong teams year after year anyway. it certainly wouldnt be a weak team

I voted no also. The only significant negative about the champs for me in recent years has been the United Nations teams where often only one or two cars are track registered. I'm not referring to drivers who step up on the Wednesday to help make up numbers, more to those who are regularly on the move through three and four teams. Another team of ring-ins doesn't appeal, sorry, however talented.
