Friendly banter is fine. But the abuse, from a small number of people on both sides, is just ridiculous. Walking into the track at about 6pm last night the C word and F for were thrown in my direction as I walked past someone wearing my panthers shirt. I paid him no attention and just ignored him so I have no idea who he was supporting, but who ever he was he should be ashamed of himself. I 'm not one to complain about swearing, but doing so in an abusive manner is not called for.
Both sides need to sort their nuts out and stop the abuse. If the Panthers get beaten tonight, then who ever manages to pull that off will have earned it and I will applaud them for a job well done, just as I will applaud the Panthers if they can win tonight.

All those people who abuse the drivers and even to other spectators are just immature. I'm a panther fan I show respect to the drivers/teams and if the panthers lose just have to get over it there's always next year. Friendly banter I don't really care but there always has to be that small group of people who just ruin it for everyone that's there to have a good time it's those d**kheads that makes me angry and they should be ashamed

Generally Speaking when Palmy don't win, the panthers and their supporters put on an awesome nights celebrations congratulating the winners along with ALL drivers from ALL teams. I doubt anyone would be able to come up with one example of a poor looser in the case of the palmy team members. Or for that matter ANY team members from any team. Its generally only the so called supporters who have problems.

The Panthers drivers are excellent sports, but most Panthers supporters we have encountered are the rudest pack of whinges around. The way they are so defensive and whiny on MacGors just reinforces this view. Last night we had the good fortune to see the good attitude of the Tigers fans when their team was beaten, whereas the Panthers fans on the other side where rude and abusive even though their team won. This is not meant as a negative go at a particular group rather just a long term observation.

Fair enough.. I myself have not had the misfortune to experience too much of that from our supporters so I guess Im lucky to have been in the right places at the right times..For sure there are good and bad in every camp and unfortunately speedway, particularly teams champs does draw out more of the bad.

every team fan base has its dickheads like the bloke in orange last night accusing palmy of cheating again over the runoff and calling Baypark gutless for just rolling over and letting Robertson have his way. does that make all Nelson supporters idiots like him ? no - just as a few sore loser panther supporters doesnt make the rest of us grizzle gutses.

Well for the weekend my mates and I were up in the grandstand all in pink. We copped the normal pink this and pink that and the odd F and C which wasn't appreiciated as this is a family show. We made friend with some busters fans and some tigers fans and at no stage did anyone one else ask us to tone the banter down. We had a really fun weekend. It was really disappointing on saturday when the person behind us pulled on one of our female friends when we were celebrating a panthers win AFTER the race was finished. I would just like to apoligise to anyone around us that heard the verbal discussion we had with him after.
All in all I think everyone in the crowd was a massive improvement from last year

All in all I reckon the crowd was pretty good. We were in the main stand and at least everyone was there to watch the racing, (unlike the 7's which was just too much drinking!).
Only saw a couple of candidates for the "dickhead award"
1/ the clown who brought their blow up doll to throw around the stand (rather than a beach ball) and the weirdo who thought it would be funny to stand up and perform some oral on it. 2/ the "young lady" dressed in orange who thought it might be funny to whip her bikini top up.
All very funny at the right place and right time, but made for some awkward questions from the kids!

Would rather see people enjoy the racing, accept defeat graciously and stick with their team in the rough times rather than find fault and blame.
In terms of supporters have to say Nelson won it hands down over weekend ...i mean sheesh guys in orange lycra at a speedway meet now that takes a big set of kahunas... i am proud to be a Panthers Supporter 1st and a Palmy supporter 2nd but supporting another team in another sport(Rugby) that is not one of the big guns(Northland) have also experienced the other side of the fence and have copped abuse from fans..... i look at it this way....how the teams you support are viewed by others is determined by how you treat their supporters and team
hope this wasn't too long winded
Cheers Justin

If the panthers lost every race people would still hate them lol they cant win either way.. Its what comes with the territory.. will never change and to be honest it just fires the drivers up.. annoys the familiers and crews but the drivers just take it in and use it as ammo

The more people moan, the harder it is to stop them!
