I follow the Panthers and always have done.I was amazed at how many people bad mouth and run down Palmerston North. I was sitting with my family and we are big Panther's supporters so of course we were cheering, as you do. I was both shocked and out-raged at some of the comments that were made by other spectators. They were running down the Panthers and made some harsh comments about the drivers. I don't have a clue why so many people are so rude and obnoxious when it comes to the Panthers.

try wearing pink all night. Fair enough we get a bit of stick I'm fine with that but we weren't 5 seconds in the gate and we copped abuse. Just not on how these people ruin it for the others

I in no way support people bagging spectators etc etc and all the rest of it.
However like roxcyford351 said. Its sport everyone hates the favourites, All Blacks play in Aussie everyone hates them, people travel to palmy to support their team and hate panthers.
Just the way that it works.

Sorry but thats how it will be with how often they win. Aggressive sport, aggressive supporters. I don't condone it and nor do I support them. But you would have to agree with how often they win accompanied buy a few crap calls over the years in their favour this will stick with fans of the opposite teams ;D
Dont get me wrong they arent they only team who have benefitted from the odd strange call but when you win all the time that must really get to people.

is it juts me or did I detect a drop off in the boring old "smash the P" ? cant recall any signs, didnt hear it around my area of the stand - despite being surrounded by nelson supporters - and after nelson were eliminated one of their supporters tried to start the chant for the final race only to be told to sit down by a couple of his fellow supporters.has this nonsense finally started to die ? The second night will tell - lol !

Yeah I realise that people don't like the panthers but I don't understand why people dog them like they do. All of the drivers put their cars and their bodies on the line for the enjoyment and entertainment of the crowd.

It must motivate the Panthers so much knowing that most are against them. Your only line of thought would be to beat everything & everyone. Who really wins the guys bagging them or the Panthers. From past results I think the Panthers have this one tied up aswell. If you want to be the best you have to beat the best. They are a prity slick unit you have to give them that. I'm a Nelson Tigers & Baypark Busters supporter & I look forward to each time either of these teams come up against the Panthers as you know the bar gets lifted another notch & only the best will win. Not a good result for the Tigers last night so hopefully the Busters can get to the Final & fight out an epic battle to come away with the honours.

as a mad sports fan its just the nature of the passion people have for who ever they were supporting. i feel like it when my belovered hurricanes come up against the blues or crusaders etc. when a team is so dominant like the panthers itll be like that , i always hope the underdog wins unless they are against my team. once again not supporting people who get overly abusive but it comes with the sport , at least we dont riot like other countrys so passionate about soccer etc.

I think it is alot of things really, as everything is in the Panthers favor, and always has been. It is their home track, always. The draw is almost always favourable to them, which looks biassed, even if it is pure luck. They have had the biggest pool of Superstocks to choose from for a very long while. Palmy has enticed many top drivers from smaller clubs to race for them and most rulings tend to favor the Panthers, which is not Palmys doing, but riles supporters. In saying that, hey are the Kings of the Mountain, and anybody would be foolish to say that they were not the most skilled team in the past decade. When a team or driver is that dominant, everyone wants to see them get knocked off their perch, and this is an aggressive sport, so aggressive calls are made, and fans get aggressive too. My other sport that i follow is Ice Hockey and cheering for someone to hospital a key player or smash someones face in is part of the game. Some stockcar fans just think they are more refined I got this PPV stream because a/ one of my best mates is in the Allstars and b/ if Palmy lose, i don't want to miss it.

All of the drivers put their cars and their bodies on the line for the enjoyment and entertainment of the crowd. you have to take it less personally and not get so wound up about it. any ribbing is not against the person personally (for most) but as a member of a representative team. as a panther, i hope all their wheels fall off!! as a individual "p" driver i still hope all their wheels fall off!! as a person, most as i do, respect them off the track for the skilled drivers they are, and the achievements they have had. everyone dislikes and gets bored with the same person/team winning all the time. if their were no enemies on the track how boring would that be!! as i footnote, i might add to that there has been many and repeated controversies over the years (many years) your team has history.

Oh so Panthers supporters are perfect too?
I'm sick of being told to Go Home every year, we spend a lot of money coming to this event. If it wasnt for outsiders you wouldn't have such a good event Panthers supporters.
So look at your own fans before you judge others

Agreed. We get a long well enough with the palmy group we sit near. Some don't understand that its friendly banter and take it too far. We build the bridge but we can only meet half way

well sorry to say but thats what happens in sports and i no that all to well.... best thing palmy can do is go out and win it again and show the people giving them a hard time that they are better than the rest.... but the palmy teams do need to harden up a bit... you will always get smash the P etc etc cause no one likes 1 team ruling the roost so to speak... anyway you think thats bad, try going to an English Premier League game like Man U vs Liverpool or a London Derby Millwall vs Westham.... now thats crazy.... Millwall fans back in the 70s i think actually distroyed there own staduim after there team lost... so you palmy boys gettn a little banter is realy nothing new just the big wide world of people backing there TEAM.....

think I will avoid macgors next teams weekend. Seems to be a lot of whining, complaining sore losers.
Would rather see people enjoy the racing, accept defeat graciously and stick with their team in the rough times rather than find fault and blame. Looking forward to two big tiger and 2 big panther victories tonight.
