O get over it , it was a very good meeting with awesome racing, lots of action and hits yet all you can say about it is negative comments to do with insignificant factors. Wow one minute Some meetings have too much commentary and others not enough.... Personally never noticed the lack of or quality of commentary as was to busy focused on the a class racing that was on tonight which shouldn't that be the main focus !!! That was 30$ worth !!!

Commentating is very significant, indeed a commentator can make or break a meeting. The bloke Hayden is worth persevering with but for a big meeting I think the fans are entitiled to something better.

For an amateur, I thought I went alright (the 3 races I commentated) The two ministock races I saw, the saloons & one teams race were good. To say the rest was cr@p, would be doing cr@p everywhere a disservice

Well done Waikaraka Park, you have turned teams champs into amateur hour. well done Do ya mind going in to a bit more detail of why you thought it was so bad? I honestly didn't think there was too much to complain about apart from not being able to hear any commentary but in my opinion if that's all people have to complain about it can't be that bad?

I honestly didn't think there was too much to complain about apart from not being able to hear any commentary but in my opinion if that's all people have to complain about it can't be that bad? Considering it's the commentary he's complaining about, how can you ask that question when you admit you didn't hear any of the commentary? One of the things I noticed was no use of the quieter times - which weren't actually quiet as we were blasted with music fit for the sewer - but there was no talk on the mic (no build up, no hype, no interviews) prior to 7pm, official start time, and then during stoppages we got more music instead of of point updates etc which could have been useful. Our situation was not helped by the fact that you can't hear the commentary up the top of the WP grandstand except when it's quiet, something that's been the case forever. Start time was another issue, in that we were told the Ministock warmups were before the official program was to get underway yet they didn't come out of the gate until 7pm - advertised start time. It meant the meeting was quite late getting underway, something which helped pad out the show which was probably one support class short really. There was some great teams action however, especially the Mustangs vs Wildcats, Busters vs Panthers and Allstars vs Wanderers races. We left not knowing all of the points however, but that may have been more because we didn't catch them where they were read out as opposed to them not being read out.

Being in the pits I didn't hear any of the commentary, but the quality it has never affected my enjoyment of a meeting. Can't go tonight but am really gutted about that. As for you Ramjam I trust you'll be somewhere else too, so you can watch ministocks and double the crowd?

From this one eyed Rebels fans point of view, I thought it wasn't too bad of a meeting. I was up in the air on the scissor lift so was never going to hear the men on the mic. I didn't need to hear anything, I was seeing it with my own eyes. Wasn't sure if it was going to be a good meeting with only 7 teams but it went off with action a plenty.
Highlights would have been the Baypark v Palmy race and the Auckland v Waikato races. All teams did well to put on a great show.
Looking forward to night 2!!
Thoughts to Bernie Fox after an incident in the pits last night. Hope your all good and hope we see you back in a car real soon. Much respect.

Not being in any position to see any Speedway here... I reckon you are all spoilt, think yourselves lucky and stop whining On the other hand if no one complains nothing improves.. How is that for some good fence sitting huh. I hope whatever happened to Bernie Fox was not serious. The mention about it in the post above just leads to us not in the know to speculate what might have happened in the pits so please can someone at least pass on a bit more information.

Thanks maRISSA. Pass on my best wishes to him if you are able. He wont know me but I take a pretty close interest in what he does since he now has my old car. Was 88p when it was built, and although not nearly as much money went into her as the existing 88p HEAPS of my blood, sweat and tears certainly went into her. For this Im always watching out for news about Bernie. Apart from that I hate to hear of any drivers getting injured no matter what the situation.

i can be a critic, but i thought friday night was awesome, crash/recovery crews were on the money and efficent, race flow with getting races out promptly was great, programe was good, no dud races, in fact every race was full on with heaps of action, don't know about commentry, i really was focussed on the racing. officialdom seemed to have right balance on red lights and race flow, you could see drivers being checked on the reds by the pace ute. a good crowd. security pressence was high and visible, i saw no crowd yahoo problems. still think $30 entry is a tad high. meeting was done and dusted at a reasonable time. not sure where the amateur hour was ? must have been somewhere else, lots and lots of action and no major injuries that i know of, except bernies pit injury ( happy healing bernie ).
