Really dude? Im a avid (you might say rabid) busters supporter and am absolutely stoked to hear they have won. The thing is the panthers will only come back stronger. While I often dislike the fact that the panthers are/were so dominating it means that other teams need to lift their game (as the busters have) which can only be good for the sport. Kind of like them American sprintcar folk racing here, its upped our guys driving immensely (not that they were slouches before of course). Wow! go get some tissues . and what do the Amercian sprint car drivers have to do with comparing the likes of the Busters drivers to the Panthers drivers driving habits/skills. You got me stumped there man . Just lke our NZ drivers had to step up their game to compete with the american drivers other teams (the busters-as a team and drivers alone) have had to lift the level of teams racing to beat the panthers at their own game. The same but different

Im not slagging them off because they are a new team. Im saying that they have stepped up to the level required to beat the panthers and when other teams follow that it will be good for the sport , for a new team its pretty darn impressive. They could have come out and come second or been decimated but they stepped up to the plate and met the challenge, something going by results that has been a challenge for teams for a number of years.
Im in no way criticizing other teams as it takes balls, skills and commitment to teams race.

new team??? I cant put a word right tonight.lol I call them a new team (old name) because they're still relatively new to racing with each other as a team. Yes if you are to take all of their previous teams racing into account they're very well versed but as a group/team I consider them new. Might just quit while Im slightly behind.

Hmmm, both teams were fresh. I'd say the busters did quite well, in that case. ;D

Barry, I think it has worked. That is the system for this year. A few points either way might have seen different teams. There a heaps of other sports where same match ups occur. Don't be too harsh because the same teams are up against each other. I actually think we will some very hard semis because of the match ups. I certainly would want to be beaten twice by the same team.

Agreed johnf, though i think you are missing a "not". Busters V Panthers was the most anticipated race for Palmy (or maybe 2nd to the letdown R Vs M race), and Palmy missed out, now Auckland get it twice!
However, i do recall the jubilation, and then alot of people being upset, when the underdog Kings finally trumped the Panthers.. and then got lined up against an angry version of them in the semis, who then went on to win. Man, still remember the crunch of Hemi taking Wooton out now. I wouldn't be too excited about the Busters win last nite, tonight is the one that counts.

With only seven teams, and 4 standouts, it was always on the cards that some teams would meet twice, but it's a shame that it has to be in the Semi's.....BOTH Semi's in fact. In the Final I think is acceptable, under any circumstances, but I really feel there should have been a sub-clause in the rules that prevented any team meeting any other team a second time, prior to the Final.
As it stands the Baypark Busters, for example, could beat the virtually invinceable Panthers twice in two days and still not win the thing!!! Likewise the Nelson Tigers over the 'stangs.
I didn't think of it before to suggest it to anybody, but I think a Baypark vs Mustangs and a Panthers vs Nelson semi final draw has a better ring to it......it'd take a wee bit of thinking about, but I feel no team seeing a familiar rival again until the Final would be a better (and arguably fairer) spectacle............
