Sounds like a good idea righturn but the core issue here as others have raised is doing this a few days out from the meeting. It's become the norm for the Auckland Teams to not get the same number of teams as Palmy so with that thought in mind why don't the organisers put the feelers out for a select team as soon as the dust settles at Palmy? To me this is the key. Let's say other teams can't get five cars but maybe two guys in the team can commit so you'd have those guys racing together in a select team. Surely out of the teams missing from Palmy i.e. Wellington, Wanganui, Stratford, Glen Eagles you'd get five cars to make up a select side especially when you consider maybe you only need three as I believe Auckland's Bernie Fox and Paul Vazey said they are keen to teams race this weekend.

Couldnt agree more... its a shame really. It wouldn't of been hard for an 8th team... if vasey stayed put and then got the likes of bernie fox, darren short, that dane condor 62h and hemi with the brand new gearbox up the vendetta and put Gary lonagan in the other marx beast or slap a pair of hoosiers and extractors on his stockie there's ur 8th team... You've checked with each driver you've named that they're available and prepared to teams race this weekend? Barry B i think what we are trying to say bb why leave it so long the driver i contacted told me if he had known about it in enough time then yea he said he has to organize crew and days off very hard at short notice and this guy would stick his hand up anytime but 4 days out come on |

Gosh it does sound really easy, perhaps next year there will be lots of people lining up to help organise the teams for the weekend? I'm sure if you start now you might get 16 teams organised being that it is so easy.

It's not like they left it until 2-4 days out. It was being worked on last week as well, but obviously to no avail. It was only announced on Saturday that ChCh weren't coming. Now I'm not sure they ever were, but obviously somebody was talking to them and must have thought a deal was imminent. When that fell over, the hunt was on for a replacement. It's good to know there are plenty of organisers on here that can step in and sort it next time when the SOS goes out.........

Perhaps next year we could have a Macgor's Selection Team whereby forum members recruit drivers into a team following the PN Teams Champs
Only problem is I don't think we'll be able to get much sponsorship off the old boy

Most on here seem to thinking in terms of quantity with no thought to the quality that is competing
Panthers , their record speaks for itself, I'm picking they're not exactly has beens yet.
Mustangs, pretty soon they are going to flatly refuse being denied.
Tigers , we all know what they're capable of when the wind and the officials are in tune.
Rebels, bit of a wild card this time but quite likely they will rouse to the call and surprise us all.
Hawkeyes, they've amassed themselves an impressive win/loss ratio and their day is coming
Allstars , Their stars are rising , how bright will they shine this weekend? wear your shades.
Busters , with the Palmy win banked can they double their balance. another win won't come easy.
The above is the reason I'm heading to the big smoke this weekend. 7 great teams and I don't know who is going to take it out.

I for one and I'm sure many others don't underestimate how difficult it is to organise such a meeting like the teams. I agree with you Magor that we have 7 great teams racing in Auckland this weekend but more teams means more races and when your a passionate superstock teams racing fan you can't get enough. So if wanting quantity is a crime I'm guilty!!

Exactly bowie51v , the whole organisation of this meeting is a stuffup year after year . I really don't think the promotion cares who turns up . Enough $$$$$$$$$$$ is made out of the Palmy event . This was another meeting that I never ever missed , but due to people constantly being left in the dark with whats happening I have canned it . Couldn't agree with you more here, money's in the bank or someone's bank. Holidays booked or already on holiday from Palmy Teams Champs.... If you don't want to promote it then give it to someone else that does!!! I'm sure if this was held more Central it would be easier for teams to attend , not taking anything away from WP. Just my view I'm sure it will upset someone. |

I think I can quite confidently say that if Waikaraka didn't have the current promoter then there wouldn't be a Teams Nationals or maybe even a Waikaraka for you guys to continually bag. The promotion advertised this meeting at the last teams event [ Palmy Teams ] and telling everyone we will see you all at Wakaraka Park on the 7th March . This is the last we heard.
How many rugby supporters would turnup to an All Black game if no team had been announced ..
