Footage has emerged of Rico and Allard rescuing TK from his sprint car. Those guys are true sportsmen!

Good footage. When I saw the first guy come running over I thought nuts those sprinters over there are big! then I realised he was midget racing!

Interesting, no new safety rules yet then. Yeah shoulda let him burn ....not there's a time and place-this time it looks pretty unselfish and totally warranted. Big difference to going for a stroll down the middle of the track

Big difference to going for a stroll down the middle of the track I agree Hoosier... bit of a difference between getting out to rescue a fellow racer, with all cars stopped, than walking down the track while the rest of the cars were moving. And the strength of Rico to pull him out as well. Loved the crowd chant.

not much of a fire just unburnt fuel from the roll over which is pretty common, it happens in teams racing here all the time and if a marshal raced over to extinguish it everyone would be moaning the outside assistance was not needed and the motors been wrecked by the powder and that they should have known it would have gone out by its self.

strange then that they chose not to extinguish it and just stood there and let it burn.

Beachboy-whats you point??? or as usual are you looking for an argument
Everyone else including social media such as FB has back slapped Rico and Johnathon for helping the guy out of his car -the race was stopped. There were flames.A fellow driver/s thought it best he saved his mate from potential harm. There are rules and there are rules..there are laws and there are laws..every now and then a transgression is accepted in light of the circumstance-this is a clear example of such an occasion. Move on,or front up to Rico at WS in Dec and give him a tune up.Let him know he needs to be more responsible,we will have none of that heroics here in NZ

Just pointing out that it was interesting after recent events and as you have said that jumping out of your car straight away and helping out after a crash is Obviously still all OK. Also pointing out that with that sort of flame flash back if it had happened over here in a teams race everyone would be up in arms and telling people they should know better than to give outside assistance for that sort of thing, where as if it is done by someone with a bit of international fame they get a pat on the back. So just pointing out those things Hoosier, not having a go at anyone, so don't let your BP go off the scale over this. Thanks for the invite but No thanks , not really into the non contact time and noise restricted events.

Thanks for the invite but No thanks , not really into the non contact time and noise restricted events. So your not into open wheel ,yet you have the only opinion running against the tide on it,and you are wrong. You care not for the facts even though they are staring you in the face in the video. You cannot distinguish between two ENTIRELY different scenarios -yet draw the same conclusion on lack of safety / driver stupidity leaving a vehicle. Wonder if Rico may have thought the fire may spread to his car and he should get the hell out??Then he assisted his mate in the process just wonder......seems conceivable. UPDATE: Have a listen.here's Rico on the very subject (starts 14m 45s) www.pennlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/10/rico_abreu_on_season_and_2015.html#incart_riverturns out it was an oil fire.......what a fool Rico,ya shoulda known the difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong Hoosier... but is there a fuel that can burn with an invisible flame - am sure I sure on tv at a motorsport event, a pitcrew member being doused, even those there wasnt a flame visible... perhaps there was the thought this may have been a similiar scenario. Still impressed at how fast Rico got out of his car, with all the safety harness's etc they use...

Yep Ben Methanol burns without a flame... Used to be many strange dances in pitlane when indycars ran it

yip Mr Karter is on to it.
My comment about the oil was tongue in cheek...fire is fire, the Weee man wasnt mucking around ,flames burn no matter what the source.
I well remember drivers doing rolly pollys around the ground whilst engulfed in methanol- and spectators bemused what the hang is going on
