There has been talk on this forum before about these titles losing some of their prestige. One way to put some back into the events is to allocate {letters} to the winners like Karting does with it's Island championships. An Island Champion would get to run NI or SI on the car and GP for the winners of those events. If a top 3 NZ driver was also an Island or GP winner then the National title would or could take presidence. It would also be a great way for the crowd to readily recognise these winners and thus help put some extra incentive back on these titles.

You don't put the number just the letters. In Karting it is highly visible and would be even more so on a full size car Also it is only the champion who runs the letters not 2nd or 3rd

NI & SI titles should always be held before the NZ champs and the winners get automatic Qualifying for the NZ's. This would make the Island titles more sort after.
GP's should be held over 2 heats to decide grid positions for a final winner takes all 20 lap race giving it the Grand Prix feeling, with qualifing on the first night if needed.

There is no reason why they can't I've seen cars with a small 7NZ on them indicationg where they got at the NZ champs. If a driver has NI/SI champ on their car - why not, up to them.

I am sure many moons ago in Wellingtown, drivers had a small 1/2 or 3w indicating their position in the club champs - noticed it first on the old escort clasd, whilst stocking up on hotdogs one night. Sure one of the trainspoters on here will recall in greater detail.

With a minor bit of tinkering SNZ could greatly enhance our Island titles and the winners could run those letters with pride.

I used to think that was how that was, and i thought it was cool. What is the NZGP if it isnt the NZ champion of a format?. It does not mean alot, just a c%$p version of the NZ champs otherwise.
