Just letting Magor's world know that the Super Saloons (and speedway racing in general) will be featured in a story to go out on TV One's Seven Sharp show.
Now, the story is about Lance Jennings (96a) and his 44 consecutive seasons racing at Waikaraka Park. This has come about due to commentators around the tracks announcing how many seasons lance has been racing quite a bit this season. Michael Holland (a long time speedway supporter) was in the crowd one night and on hearing this approached us in the pits afterwards and asked if he could do a human interest story. We did not think much of it until he turned up with with a cameraman at the recent John Webster meeting in Auckland....
He did quite a few interviews and about 4 hours of filming including quite a bit of the racing, and had the car set up with 4 cameras. We don't know what they will show or what they will say, but we think it is great to have the sport getting exposure on prime time television.
The piece is due to be on the show either at the end of this week or early next week if you want to keep your eye out.

Will do. I spoke to Michael today and he said it was 'on the board' for tonight, but he got sent to the West Coast to cover a story there and so it has been bumped. He thought it would probably be on 'late' this week or early next week.
In any case, he will give us the video and we will put it up on our facebook page so it runs for a bit longer......

Good bugga So is it you that creates a disturbance in the crowd in Bay 7 when minor interruptions take place on the track during the international festival over Christmas,and new year ..Mr Holland could have a clip instead of when the crowd goes wild ,replaced by when a Hoosier losses his grip |

Not yet. It was to go out last Monday, but Michael got sent to the West Coast to cover the bike track - that story went out on Thursday (and was pretty amazing). He said it would either be late last week or early this week.... but things can always change depending on what news was happening...
We think it could be this week and if I hear anything from the Seven Sharp team I will put it up here.

No, not yet...... I wil try to get an update from TVNZ, but it seems like it depends on what the news of the day is.
I think it probably has been pushed down the line as a filler piece.....

Funny you should say that...... I spoke to Michael today, and he has been so busy with the FIFA World Cup and other thingsd that he has not had the chance to get it on the show. He does not really want to have it go on during Winter and has suggested holding it until just before the new season.
He also wants to do more filming and we are trying to get him down to Patetonga and put him in the car as well - an idea that he is pretty keen on.
So it looks as if it will be a few months away and indeed be for the 45th season.
