It’s the end of an era, with Wanganui Warriors stalwart Kerry Podjursky announcing his retirement from teams racing – Kerry would be close to holding the record for racing at the most Team Champs over his long career.
Kerry had indicated at the start of the season that his unavailability for Teams Racing was on the cards and confirmed before Christmas this was the decision. With many factors contributing including major work commitments the time has come to make the decision to retire from teams racing. He plans to race the car in the South Island later this season to enable Kyle Heibner to be involved with the team, and beyond that, his plans will be determined by whether or not the Tank is sold.
Kerry made this season debut at Palmerston North on 27th December, but his Jaguar-powered Tank had engine issues, forcing his withdrawal from the New Zealand Superstocks. The 56V Tank has undergone hundreds of hours of work by Kerry in his shed to repair damage sustained at the 2015 Teams Champs and Kerry is eager to get back behind the wheel for the remainder of the season.
Kerry Podjursky is one of the most experienced and feared teams’ racers in the country, and has been a mainstay of the Warriors, especially since their return to the Teams Champs in 2004. He leaves huge shoes to fill, but we understand the reasons behind his decision to retire from teams racing, we thank him for his contribution on and off the track, and we wish Kerry and his family a long and less bruising retirement from Teams Racing.

He has been a loyal member of the Warriors for a long time.
Feel for those guys, seems every year they have engine issues at the first meeting worth that tank.
Be great to see him in the South Island, hopefully it includes a easer tour that includes the week after at the King of the coast. That meeting in Gm has had a strong association with wanganui cars dating back to 1996 with Kerry o Connor, mike Johnson and jimmy Baxter all racing there at times. Be great to have another v car in attendence.
Good luck for the future.
No doubt this limits the pool for the Warriors while also leaving a gaping hole with one of the best block man in th country out.

Hall of fame this guy. If hes retired its a fitting time Maybe Scott Miers and Kerry Podjursky will be the inductees to the Hall of Fame. It's hard to argue against their credentials
