Many Youth Ministock competitors will be unaware that Oceanview Speedway is the home of Ministock racing. The first Ministock was built by Wanganui Superstock driver and former 3NZ Darryl Taylor, and the speedway scene hasn't been the same since. Youth Ministocks have been the pathway into speedway for dozens of youngsters including Asher Rees, Jack Miers and Kyle Heibner, to name just three.
So the Wanganui Stockcar and Speedway Club has come up with a plan to make sure Wanganui's place in speedway history is not forgotten. On the weekend of Friday 13th and Saturday 14th January, we will be hosting the inaugural Youth Ministock Nationals at Oceanview Speedway. Entry will be limited to 100 cars, and the meeting will race in two age divisions - 12 to 14 years (maximum of 40 cars), and 15 to 16 years (maximum of 60 cars).
The Club is still finalising details, but mark this date in your season calendar now. It will be a weekend to remember, at New Zealand's Home of Ministock racing.
