Having taken a good look through the respective team line-ups I believe the field is wide open for this event.
I can put forward a legitimate case for 10 of the 13 teams as a potential winner.
Have you spotted a team flying under the radar? Have you worked out who the favourite is? Let us know and why.

Hmmmmm, Always have to say the Maulers, got a couple new guys in there but with Penn been added it just boost things up a little.
Still watch out for wanganui or stratty. both good fast teams with a couple good hitters.
Be good if nelson won as be a ean road trip
Good luck to all teams tho.

I would be interested to know who thw three teams are that you don't fancy there chances Percy? I like the looks of the Vulcans line-up and rate their chances. Everyone's going to like the look of the Vulcans; brand new bodies, and brand new logo and livery, and brand new merchandise. I may be a little biased, but I reckon they'll be the best looking team at Gisborne. Naturally, I will be backing the Vulcans to win, but it's teams racing, and anything can happen. I know though that our guys won't die wondering, they are as well prepared and as well supported as they have ever been, and they will be a force to be reckoned with. The addition of Darryl Taylor to the team in the car Dion Mooney built last year especially for teams racing gives the Vulcans added experience. Whoever wins this weekend is going to have to survive five bruising races; two on Friday night, then a quarter-final, semi-final and the final on Saturday night. Whoever takes away the silverware will have well and truly earned it. If it's the Vulcans, we will be hosting one heck of an event next season at the Oval by the Ocean

Baypark, Kihikihi and Christchurch Unfortunately I don't see a path to victory for these teams Kihikihi is one team I think could surprise. Gary Worthington, Carl Hodge, Steve McPherson and Eb Young make for a vastly experienced team and from what I hear their other two drivers are not going to bad either. I would certainly rate them above half a dozen other teams. Plus I would love to see Kihikihi get the chance to host the Champs. I guess they would be my emotional favourites rather than my logical ones.

As mentioned this years title will be a hard one with so many evenly matched sides!
R1 Alley Cats vs Bulldogs - win Alleycats
R2 Young Guns vs Raiders - win Young Guns, possible upset here as Raiders went well at Huntly teams. R3 Crusaders vs Vulcans - win Vulcans
R4 Maulers vs Rascals - win Rascals
R5 Vintage Stockcars - Hotdog time!
R6 Thunder vs Pumas logic tells me Pumas but gut tells me Thunder or maybe wish full thinking?? win Thunder!
R7 Crushers vs Stormers - win Stormers
R8 Bulldogs vs Gladiators - win Gladiators
R9 Raiders vs Alleycats - win Raiders
R10 Vintage Stockcars
R11 Vulcans vs Young Guns one of the races of the night! hard battle. win Vulcans by a nose.
R12 Rascals vs Crusaders - win Rascals
R13 Pumas vs Maulers - win Pumas
R14 Stormers vs Thunder both good teams but guilty of getting into go fast mode and not blocking! hard one this? win Stormers sneak home. Could go either way!
R15 Gladiators vs Crushers - win Gladiators
