Not normally one to stir up controversy in my own neck of the woods, but c'mon.. Contest time - guess how much 4 bottle's of Coke (the piddliest little size that you can get) plus 2 punnets of chips and 2 hot dogs cost's at Palmy? Yes that's right - $34 !!! Contest over, sorry no prizes cause I spent all my money on a hot dog and a drink. PS: If you want a squirt of sauce on your chips that'll be 50 cents extra. My own personal advice is to eat a hearty breakfast or lunch before you head to the track, or have a good read of the conditions of entry and bring a few snacks of your own. venuespn.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Conditions-of-Entry.pdf

The rules on the Drunks , Verbal abuse etc is enforced about as much as the pole line cutting rule. Simple reason so many choose not to attend these days.

I haven't actually seen any drunks or verbal abuse from Palmy locals so far this season. Maybe the visitors bring it with them.

That will be why the stadium is half empty then! Is that what i said ? Of course the place is always packed to the hilt as normal and there are also plenty of people who can never get in because it is fully booked out . I was simply saying there many people who no longer go because of the drunks etc who spoil things and are never monitored. Hell , if 50 people decided not to go tomorrow there would be another 50 willing to take their seats.

Either the council or more likely their contracted caterer who has to be used as part of the venue hire agreement

Credit where credit due. You can get a cup for free then use it to get yourself a free drink. So at least the water is free. Well done palmy speedway. 👍

I have received a personal message in response to my comment [ drunks ] from one very intelligent individual on here . His view is that the Palmy Teams is not a family event and they [ PN Speedway know this ] . It is more One Big Party . Hell , i didnt know husbands , wives and their kids werent supposed to attend. Im also pretty sure it is a breach of the liquor laws to sell alcohol to drunks. Im no wowser and can have a good time with the rest of them , but sure dont need to get written off to have fun.

Palmy promotion leases the venue from Arena Manawatu (council operation). that is where their relationship ends. its the same as the likes of Westpac Stadium, the vendors have contracts with Arena not the promoter and can sell the products at whatever price they want. this is why Gala caterers were eventually tipped out.If their price point is too high then it will bite them in the bum eventually. This comes up every year and PN Promotion cops it all the time. This is not a private or club owned facility that is the difference.

The Promoter would have a large say in what is sold and at what price as it's their event. They have sponsors for the event and for argument sake let’s say Coco cola was a main sponsor, I’m pretty sure the caterer who as you says has no relationship or contract with the promoter would not then be able to sell Pepsi. The promoter is spending a large amount of $$ to put on this event which is going to bring in a lot more hungry mouths than a normal meeting so of course they are getting a slice of the hot dog and chips.
