I was very impressed with the Stratford Scrappers when they beat the Waikato Wanderers at the Stockcar GP meeting in Stratford recently and it wouldn't surprise me if they caused quite a big upset. I have some guests coming to stay from the outback in Australia who originally hail from Taranaki as well as my Niece and her partner coming down from New Plymouth, so the progress of the Scrappers will be followed closely in my house so I thought I'd start a special thread on them. Here's some snaps I took at the Stockcar GP meeting in Stratford, which is the team to run next weekend. 26s Mitch Vickery (Superstar) 52s Gary Johnson 53s Blair Johnson 75s Carl Shearer 82s Paul Johnson

Not only racing it but winning the race with a really mature, cool, calm and well calculated drive.
And obviously Shearer is no longer in the car pictured as its been sold to Benji Sneddon and since raced in Wanganui and also at the 240s.
Still a strong side, some good experience, raw pace, well presented. Had a race this year and did very well.
All locally contracted drivers. They, like a lot of teams named, could surprise.

I had been wondering where Benji's car had come from at the 240s, had it working well

Now why would you say that i wonder One stratford driver in the Busters... a driver who is probably 20 years past his teams prime from Gladiator days. Not much of a contest to be salivating over...
