I had been keeping an eye on the website for the date of the Australian round which until I looked today had just been listed as TBC. It's now missing from the calendar on the site so would I be right to assume it's not a happening thing this year, or am I missing something?

3 seasons out of the 4. melbourne no longer hosts sgp or in fact none down this side the world. which be major loss for speedway. like to know crowd numbers were they that bad. for the reason canning it down Australia.

Niece and nephew went over, crowd was quite good, and enthusiastic etc, I think it's mainly the distance that makes it unprofitable. All the extra overheads that they don't have in Europe. Last SGP contract that I saw, the riders make there own arrangements re travel, accomodation, transporting bikes etc. Down this neck of the woods, the local promoters have to wear those costs, plus all of the officials, and they don't just come for one or two days as in Europe,.. so adding all that to the FIM licenses etc, it's that much more expensive to run. Half of the GP's, I think the European promoters would kill for the growds we got when it came to NZ. Only Warsaw and Cardiff would have larger crowds than here.

Last year was my first SGP, and likewise, I thought the crowd numbers were pretty good. I get that it's a long way to go from Europe for just one round down this way but giving the Australian successes its a big call to scratch the event. I wonder if they will take the chance on the American market instead?

Australia made sense with the number of Aussies who have fulltime rides, apart from Hancock there really aren't any Americans at a decent level so they would struggle to get much of a local crowd. Unfortunately SGP is & will remain for the foreseeable future very Eurocentric

Would of thought seen out 5 year contract melbourne had hosting SGP series, not terminate it after just 3 years. also understand costs of shipping bikes down this part the world definitely not cheap exercise.. Far crowd numbers cardiff gets 40,000 spectators Torun i would of assumed run close 2nd far numbers go.

Surprisingly, Torun, the most spectular speedway stadium of them all...only my opinion of course.. only has a capacity of 15,000 odd. Largest attendance now has been Warsaw..the new Polish National Stadium..like Cardiff, not a purpose built speedway. They got 50,000plus last year.

www.speedwaygp.com/news/article/6439/bsi--pse-team-up is about the current year en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silesian_StadiumThis is where the grand prix is going next year and is my mums home town in Poland, which is the worlds largest speedway stadium with a capacity of 130,000 spectators. It is also a famous stadium for NZ speedway being the last that Ivan Mauger won a world title at. Even today if you walk through the town you will find everyone knows about NZ and Ivan Mauger.
