And it won’t be until after the council vote. In the meantime the people need to make their opinions known.

so if you want it to stay email your 2 local council members and ask them what their stance is on the matter, making sure to point out the needless enormous cost to rate payers these moves by the RFA will cause.

I did weeks ago. They didn’t even bother to acknowledge my email let alone respond with their views.

As i traveled through the greater jaffa town the other day and headed out west to go home ,i saw absolutely nothing on any bill boards relating to save the Springs and the sport as such . Public awareness is essential ,talk how much you like ,but if it is not in the face of the people 90% will never know ,the small bill board at the entrance to the main gates isnt enough ,like a piss in the wind ,excuse the french .. Get off your backsides if you want to save the Springs and show Goff you mean action ,hold a rally of supporters in queen st ,people will stand up and take note .. Imagine the 102000 people showing solidarity for there love of the sport at the springs ,that impact alone would be enough to shake ,rattle and roll any councils intention ..

Billboards cost money so maybe that post should be directed at SPL

I agree with your sentiment Midway but remember attendance of 102000 over the season doesn’t mean 102000 individuals. Could be 8500 individuals on each of 12 nights....don’t know what the largest crowd was but that would be more indicative.

There would be more than 102000 , you have to think of the families, the families of families, the racers of old,the people who never go who hold fond memories from days of old and have a view. There are so many more touched when you have 90 odd years of history (on any matter) Would they be motivated to muster? that is the question.

As Mosen said “it’s an economic outcome to the RFA and nothing else” so does anyone know or has anyone asked ‘how much would the RFA accept to give SPL a new lease?
Plenty of examples out there of multi-millionaires that use sport as their play toy and given that Bill Buckley appears to have pumped millions into WS over the years why doesn’t he simply offer more, rather than go through all this drama?
For example would the RFA accept say $300K (Edit LOL) pa from SPL for a new lease? Peanuts to someone in Buckley's league.

I don't imagine Bill got to where he is today by rolling over and coughing up every time someone put the squeeze on him. Can you imagine the precedent that would set for the bean counters and bureaucrats that run the council (forget the elected officials, they have no say whatsoever), every time an individual or organisation wanted something, they'd just be held to ransom.
