Springs want to have all the heat grids printed in the program before a single car has even arrived at the track, which means yep you guessed it, the 100ish teams (and any visiting car) need to confirm they are racing each meeting. And if you dont, Rear of Field for your heat races. Cant see that working too well. Only one car missing from each class and the grids through the whole program will be wrong and people are stuck crossing out and rewriting the correct grids back in, and much worse, the crowd is confused because the grids in their program arent what they are seeing on track.
All that needs to happen is a photo of the grids posted on the FB page and any decent IT person could post that same photo on the big screen so the streaming and at the track audience have everything they need.

The class rep is obviously in contact with the drivers throughout the week & drivers that will be attending will let the class rep know hence why their names are only put into two or so different groups but in random order when you get the program & then they do a marble draw to decide positions in heat races.

hi i think that that when the grids are already allocated in the programme they have been drawn the previous week/meet so if someone has wrecked or someone is appearing for their first meet they wont be in there and are sometime slotted in where they have someone missing

Well Percy has already stated that when the grids are drawn at the start of the meeting that he will be filling in program and posting pics to the FB page so that sorts all the above problems IF that happens.

never noticed that F2 and TQ heats had grids in them, don't bother filling them in only sprintcars and midgets

How are you going to govern yourself from being a critic ,to now being a appointed person that must show the loyalty to the promotion on the night of meeting .. Some of the drivers that have been on the receiving end of harsh comment And of course the officials that just had to accept comment made by a individual hiding under the umbrella of Percy ,the Whistle blower :

I guess if you can afford to go and enjoy yourself make the most of it now ,as the way the world is looking on the Wall st stock exchange the money tree isnt to bright ,plus the fact this country is heading for a depression ,just look at the price per litre of fuel $2.53 ,diesel over $2 .00 Speedway wont be the entertainment for many as the escalating costs creep in almost every week too the house hold ,there seems a trend of little confidence in the business sector which after the previous administration was buoyant . Only guessing but most folk will save for the bigger meetings and get there fix ,so crowds wont be the same at club nights ,unless they realize ,how hard it is for the average family to cope ..

It's a case of wearing a different hat with each role. The social media role has a particular purpose and opinion is outside of that. On the flipside this forum is high on opinion.
I believe the speedway community has always seen me as a Springs person so the new role may not be much of a difference.

Yes you have been led by example and followed the Queen in her footsteps ,by wearing a different hat with each role ... But her opinion is kept very much to herself ,as where yours is very much open to interpretation How ever if anything else springs to mind no doubt we will hear in due course ..

So after a couple of weeks at your new job Percy ,how is it going and are you enjoying it ?? First week was a challenge. You plan out everything and try to automate as much as possible but until you're faced with the pressure of doing something for the first time you simply can't predict what challenges you're going to face. After the show I was exhausted. Second meeting went a lot better. I sat where I've sat for the last 35 years and it's amazing what familiarity does to slow down what's happening in front of you. I've built some fancy functionality into my spreadsheet so driver grids appear in the facebook results, points are automatically calculated based on results and points in the Springs National Series are updated based on feature results. Got to unleash most of that functionality so the fans on facebook were better informed than many inside the stadium. Worked particularly well with the million dollar pole shuffle as I was able to identify the 10 participants just a couple of minutes after the final Sprintcar heat concluded. Also getting better in front of the camera. I've never done interviews before and it's a skill I'm learning as we go. The drivers have been incredibly obliging for which I'm thankful. I'm trying to pick out drivers who perform above expectations the previous week or have a story to tell like Le Cren at the last meeting whose team put in big hours to repair the car after his opening night flip. We'll also be doing more "behind the scenes" interviews, profiling those who make the show happen. So to answer your question I'll enjoy it more as every week passes.
