Gday..yes part of my reply that you have put up was to another poster, on something they said. Thanks actually..to you for being honest with your numbers, many times ( in the early days)I asked how many viewers there were and got rude responses from various folks..one or two are in this discussion...at the time I was trying to quantify dollars..I couldnt understand how the streams were staying so crappy, lol now i know you had 2600 streams at 32.50 on an average..making turn over $84000...now i really want stream only comms...good on yiz..keep getting better..keep growing So how much of the 84k goes too the chch track if any That's entirely a commercial matter between the stream provider and the promoter Mordecai. It's none of your business or mine.

Inventory and Tank.. it may well be private info between the service provider and the promoter..but for pity sake everyone has a right to ask without being jumped upon...same old attitude as the one I used to get, its not your business!!! what do you want to know for...why you asking..blaa blaa and as usual neither of the respondents has anything to do with either the service provider or the promoter lol...so your replies are as valid as the question it self. The figures will show up in the clubs accounts etc for members to see, so just wait..info will be available if your a member of that club..
14000 tickets thru the gate at 30 bucks, 2600 streams at 30 bucks..theres 498k to start with..and those are just rounded down ticket and streaming prices. Congratulations to both service provider and the club...regardless of who gets what.

They will just have a total profit or loss to show. It is no ones business except between those 2 parties, but as we raise a nation of wanna knows (it's my right to know). Be a member of the club (or better- committee) and get the info, I doubt you will get it or be one.

14000 tickets thru the gate at 30 bucks. Dont assume that everyone in the stadium paid for an adult ticket. A lot of those would have been family passes or children (free).

Think about this, a stream brings in 84k revenue and for arguments sake I'm going to say it's 50-50 split (it doesn't really matter what the split is, I'm using 50% for ease of mathematics) gives the club 42k in extra revenue they would never have been able to get without the stream.
Who should pay what ever extra costs involved in getting a dedicated stream commentry? Commentators of the standard demanded don't grow on trees unfortunately.
Is there anyone who can honestly say they didn't buy the stream, but would have if there was a dedicated commentary? Is there anyone who did buy the stream but wouldn't have if it was more expensive but had dedicated talkers.
Should all NZ, Ni, SI, GP titles be live steamed, with the profit from the big 4 or 5 be used to subsidise meetings like the SI production Saloons live stream (and dedicated commentary team that comes with it) What about the investment the live stream provider has already made? I've seen The Pits set up and while I know zilch about their company structure, I reckon there has been a ship load more investment made than they will earn this season alone. I'm sure their investors love the sporr, but I'll also bet that they will look for a ROI over the years.
To take an arbitrary figure based on what you reckon their turnover would have been and then decide they are rolling in it is unfair to any biz I reckon.
As an aside I wonder what Jason G's hourly rate will work out to over the period from Xmas day till after the world 240s will be. I'd bet including all his travel time etc, it's prob minimum wage or less, and would the streams of the quality provided by the pits have been possible without the hours he's put in? Personally I doubt it

This is a speak before you think type of thread in relation to what we as a company do. I just want to highlight a couple of things that you may or may not know.
Our broadcast operation to date has set up back the wrong side of 2 million dollars and over the last 3 years for development and equipment only. You have to remember we started with nothing. At the start my crew worked for nothing and no tracks would even consider having us there because we were unproven and in fact... most didn’t even think we would last the year. We couldn’t even afford accomodation and would often travel to places like Nelson and Blenheim and drive home to Invercargill after the racing had finished....13 - 14 hours away. It was something we chose to do because we aren’t just a filming company looking for a quick buck...we are passionate about the sport. Sh.t we struggled. I couldn’t even afford to pay the staff and they worked for me for free just so we could run. Hours away from their jobs etc. To this day, I have never been paid by my company choosing instead to put whatever money is made back into the operation. That’s why I still have to work a full time job during the week to pay the mortgage etc. But I can now afford to pay my staff to which they all know what efforts go in to deliver content to you all so you can sit at home and pick the crap out of what it is we do.
I’m not going to lie to you, but this is the biggest stream we have ever done and people fail to take into consideration that streams that we have done that aren’t successful with the numbers of last night.
There is just so many costs that you all would never think of. The track pays for nothing to have us come except for accomodation. All the clubs no that we don’t even care if we are in a tent at the track as long as my crew have access to cooking facilities and a shower. We pay our team well and this is a big cost. On average we have 13 staff ...even at 100 a day that’s 2600 in wages straight away. But they get more than 100 a day. Then take into consideration the time away from our days jobs, the cost to travel the length width and breadth of this country... have you seen the price of diesel kms these days. Food for 13 people for 4 - 5 days isn’t cheap either. Ferry crossings for 2 vans and 5 people each way, Streaming associated costs, server developments, insurances are 980 a month, the vehicle maintainence is 500 a month. If I itemised this it would floor you ..does anyone want to pay my $4000 tax bill by the 20th of January or the accountants bill who seem to charge like a wounded bull. I accept that there is a cost to do business but we are doing this business because we love the sport. We certainly don’t have to... but we choose to. Understand one thing and that’s be very clear on this... we started with nothing and although Campbell is a massive part of the business as he helped us to set up, The Pits TV is self funded and as those funds come in we make things just that wee bit better. I will always remember our first ever event that we filmed... it was terriable and I’m sure the people on this board would of shot us... but we had to start somewhere. My girlfriend would testify that the hours spent building this operation was one of commitment, passion and dedication. Often I would wake up in the middle of the night with an idea. I wouldn’t right it down and do something about it in the morning... nope I would get up and go and work on it straight away. She recalls hundreds of times where she would come out and 4 and 5 in the morning and find me slouched over asleep either in the broadcast vehicle or in the studio. In fact she was worried. And to this day I still get wake up with ideas and get straight up and work all night on this just so I can make it better for the end user.
Negotiations with Maori TV , advertisers and as many know we now have overseas TV networks and massive streaming providers wanting to take our content to which we will be making an announcement about very very soon.
Onto commentators. There is reasons why we use on track commentators and the main one is emotion on the night. When you capture an event live and the commentator is on form it can add way more emotion and feeling rather than doing it in post after the event. We have had to redo commentary in some of the events we have filmed at its sounds flat and emotionless. We have had several events that the commentator is on point with our camera guys and vice versa. We instruct our camera Gus to always film what the commentator is on or where there is action. In some cases commentators can’t get past the first few cars, but we like to show people what’s happening throughout the field. We had one person complain because we didn’t film the person that was in front in a race. They were 30 metres clear with no one around them and the commentators were talking about them for most of the race... she said that she didn’t care because he was the leader. Hmmm I am also a believer that it’s up to the track to provide adequate commentary for major events who no the track, it’s surrounds, it’s history and of course the same about the drivers. Brining in experts can be good in one way, but not in another. We fly Billy Hickey in to present the show but we believe that the rest should be provided by the clubs. If the commentator is keeping the live audience happy then it should be a give in that the live streamers would be the same. I also want to reiterate to everyone that this is only the second time ever our company has ever filmed a massive field of Superstocks and we are learning. Over a period of time, this will get better.. but let’s get it out there to start with. I personally asked 5hem to zoom out over the weekend so that if anything was going to happen that they would zoom in and capture the action. There can be loads happening on the field at once and sometime you just cannot get all of it, but by zooming out a bit, it certainly opens up your chances. The tight shots came from the middle camera to ensure that not every shot was zoomed out. Give us time and we will nail it, we just have to figure it out.
I am insulted by the people that have blabbed in about how much money was made out of the stream. Have you ever thought about the streams that we have done over the last 2 years that haven’t made money. That don’t even cover staff wages. There is possibly 2 events that would make us good money this year that will set us up to pay the bills during the 6 months of off season we still need to pay our insurances for and all other associated costs that I won’t go into. Can we not just enjoy that we did make a profit this weekend and someone not think that we are ripping them off. Did you even consider how much work and sacrifice and development has gone into this operation so that you can sit behind your keyboard whilst watching a high quality stream that didn’t glitch over the 2 nights. Yeah maybe one day we will bring in specialist commentators or maybe we won’t, but I can tell you right here and right now that 99% of the people that watch that stream over the 2 nights were blown away by it’s quality, it’s content and the fact that we kept people entertained with music during the downtime’s. Please ..you have a choice... but do me a favour... don’t ever buy our streams if you think we are ripping you off or not delivering the content that you think we should be... clearly we will never please you....
For this that did buy ...thank you very much

I also won’t go into the hours upon hours I spend in the studio cutting and editing footage for our tv show either. That’s a whole different can of worms.
Just out of interest... we were at Woodford Glen at 7am on Friday and left at 1.00 am and were back there at 7 am on Saturday and left at 3am .. whilst everyone was enjoying the presentations my crew were still packing down the operation ... it’s a mammoth set up ... and it takes hours to set up and hours to pull down.
I am also not aware of any people that set up companies to not make a profit to develop and grow into bigger companies and clearly any person that sits down and takes the time out to break down what the profit is and what we should be spending it on is a narrow minded and not living in reality. Trust me when I say we have lost heaps to gain a little ...What a joke
Ok .. I think I’ve finished ranting now ... have a great night

Should all NZ, Ni, SI, GP titles be live steamed, with the profit from the big 4 or 5 be used to subsidise meetings like the SI production Saloons live stream (and dedicated commentary team that comes with it) What a bloody great idea

Live stream and dedicated seating is huge for fans now. They want to turn up and watch or tune in to watch at start time. Jase, what you team does is amazing. So many teams have tried and failed. Your response was as amazing as it was passionate, as is what your service is. Keep up the great work. Shame that someone did the numbers, but as you say you would have set you up for a meeting bugger all paid for.
As mentioned on another thread, really pissed that Huntly refuse to live stream for the NZ super saloons. I can't be there but would love a service like yours. Keep up the good work. I appreciate your effort and more importantly passion/quality.
Don't give up as others have. Again your previous response was on point.

I can assure you that Huntly did want us and its us that cant get there as Moore Park Speedway booked us 2 season ago for the NZ Sidecars. As we all know, Huntly have had other people come in and do live streams before that have failed and Red doesnt want another company coming in and potentially undo all the hard work we did to build their reputation for having live streams. We are working on a second broadcast van as we speak but it wont be ready till the middle of this off season and this will fix these issues. I find Huntly one of the most supportive and dedicated crews that have done nothing but welcome us with open arms and they are just gutted we couldn't come. Red was even trying 3 days ago to get me to switch my mind but we cannot let the team down at Moore Park

Personally I doubt it Do you remember last year when we drove all the way to Huntly from Invercargill (1918kms) for the North Island Stockcars and spent the week up there after it to do Speedfest a week later only to be rained off. That cost me 5k and it was a massive hit at the end of the season and made things very tight for off season. Your right RamJam ... you can't guarantee that if we get there we if there would be rain or some other natural disaster. No ones going to pay us for a rain off, but we still have to pay. Its safe to say i needed the 1918kms home to cool off lol. Already this season we had fronted up to 9 events and were only able to film 4 due to rain offs. In 2 of those events we had full crews that had set up to film.. got though round 1 and then it pi..ed down. And to boot they were free Facebook streams... oh so quick how people forget lol Does anyone remember what its like to do 1918kms non stop?
