Here's an explanation of the format for the New Zealand Stockcar Teams Champs so that you can study and understand it prior to the meeting if you wish.
Colonel Malone’s/Five Star LiquorNew Zealand Stockcar Teams Champs Format
The 13 teams will each have two races on Friday night, with the teams scoring points over both races to find the eight teams that will proceed to the quarter finals on night two. All night one races will be of 10 lap duration.
The top four teams from last season have been seeded so that they do not race each other.
The other nine teams will draw their ‘number’ during the grand parade.
Points are awarded to the top five finishers in each race as follows.
100, 40, 25, 20, 10
The eight teams that proceed to night two are ranked based on their total points received on night one. Highest points is ranked one, second highest points is ranked two and so on. This determines who races who in the quarter finals on night two.
Rank 1 vs Rank 8,
Rank 3 vs Rank 6
Rank 4 vs Rank 5
Rank 2 vs Rank 7
The winning teams from the first two races will proceed to the first semi-final. The winning teams from the second two races will proceed to the second semi-final and the winners of the semi-finals will meet for the final. The losing teams from the semi-finals will race each other for 3rd/4th.
The two highest ranked (rankings from night one) losers in the quarters will race each other for 5th/6th and the two lowest ranked losers will race each other for 7th/8th
Sulco Tools and Equipment Second Tier
Night one rankings also play a part in the second tier with who vs who decided by rankings as below.
Rank 9 vs Rank 13
Rank 10 vs Rank 11
Rank 12 vs Rank 9
Rank 13 vs Rank 11
Rank 10 vs Rank 12
The two highest points scoring teams will race each other for the final of tier 2 (9th/10th overall)
Placings 11th, 12th and 13th will be decided from points accrued form the above races. Note 11th overall is 3rd in the second tier.
Races for points and first past the post!
All of night ones races will be for points.
On night two, the quarter finals, semi-finals, final, races for 5th/6th and 7th/8th will be first past the post.
The second tier rank races will be points.
The second tier final will be first past the post.
