I have just had to post the following on the Elite Mechanical New Zealand Superstock Championship Facebook page:
There was an issue last year when some kind person tried to sell pirated merchandise from the Wanganui Warriors and a number of other Superstock teams, which would have deprived those teams of the income they get from merchandise sales. Now it is someone trying to deprive both The Pits TV and the Wanganui Stockcar and Speedway Club of revenue from live streaming. The Pits TV are the sole rights-holders for the live stream from Wanganui next weekend.
Social media is an excellent promotion and information tool. However there is an element out there that think it's their right to use social media to make money for themselves by being parasites to the hard work that has been done to promote an event
One of the hazards of running and promoting an event is ambush marketing.
We have become aware this morning of a FB page headed "New Zealand Superstock Championship", apparently posting a link to a live stream of next week's Elite Mechanical New Zealand Superstock Championship. See the page header in the graphic below. This is an unofficial page.
This Facebook page is the only official page sanctioned by the Wanganui Stockcar and Speedway Club. Please be aware of imitations, and especially offers of free live streaming.
The Pits TV has exclusive rights to live stream from Wanganui next weekend, on a pay-par-view basis. Any "free" live stream will be unofficial, and of dubious quality. A condition of entry to Oceanview Family Speedway is no unauthorised live streaming, and the WSSC reserves the right to eject any person(s) not adhering to the conditions of entry.
The organisers of the Elite Mechanical New Zealand Superstock Championship have put in a huge amount of work to ensure a successful and memorable event. We take a dim view of attempts by others to leverage off that.
