Hope you are on traffic patrol Saturday Midway and have the bottle necks of Wellsford, Warkworth and Johnson's tunnel cleared for the four cars of the Andresen's and Jordan's to get to the park on time. Mike 36A has the car looking pristine, one of the most dedicated competitors in the class over the years and seems to get enjoyment out of competing and not focused on the podium. Others come and go but year in and year out Mike turns up and over the years has travelled many k's to different tracks.

Ben Harding being told by the series he isn’t welcome to race is disgraceful

Yes very strange think about Ben. If I am right a Auckland car (not in the series list) was allowed to race in a Huntly round - but Ben an Auckland registered car not allowed to join in on his registered track. Maybe to many personalities in this class now.

Auckland's best driver not being allowed to compete in Auckland means whoever comes 1st is actually 2nd. Whoever comes 2nd actually comes 3rd and whoever comes 3rd in reality does not podium.

why was he not allowed to race ? Apparently Bruce told him that was good to race, which as a contracted A car is exactly right, but Steve Williams made it clear that he didn’t want him there A bit ironic really when I seem to recall the series was started up so these guys could race while the BK series was an exclusive event

Thanks Waikaraka Park two weeks in a row with a great track,we had a heap of fun both nights so thanks to all the track staff, promotion and helpers and Sponsors all very important as links in the Chain ,any chain is only as strong as the weakest link ,sadly we finished fourth both nights ,The Auckland Super Saloon Champs and the DVS Super Saloon Series.the coolest thing about the champs was that the top 5 all came from different tracks 8S,46M,96A,77Kand 21H,well done to the fast guys ,The Series is awesome and from where I sit seems to be achieving its aim ,ie giving lower budget racers and those tied to work some racing while the big meetings and other series are running so thanks Steve and Team big ups from us 77K,Cheers

Does not come much better for the family 1st and 2nd well done team Thanks JimmyJ, it was a special night to stand on the podium next to dad and Steve, and the other series racers went pretty good once the early night tricky trtack conditions burnt off. It is a tricky one talking about the exclusion of Ben and other Auckland registered cars wanting to race last night. On one hand, everyone wants every speedway competitor on the track in front of the fans all the time. And on the other hand you have a series with preset grids for every round determined before it starts with competitors committing to every round and paying their entry fee to be able to sell the series to tracks and have the racing in the first place. No doubt the super saloon series racing around the country has built the class and talent back into a premerier class and fan attractor, but it has put local club based racing under pressure. This is tough for the local racers, but the class has gone from strength to strength over the last 15 years becuase of the series racing. But the series require a committment up front. I am not sure the turning down of other competitors was 'disgraceful' as mentioned previously. It is unfortunate, but inclusion would have upset the points and grid calculation for all the other competitors who committed to 7 rounds, and paid their money up front. Would it be an issue if there were more Super Saloon meetings through the season at Waikaraka Park? Only 9 meetings this season with Super Saloons on the programme and 3 of those are Series rounds, leaving only 6 for locals who are not in a series or who don't want to travel.

I normally like your posts and appreciate your insights from someone closer to the action than most, but really this shouldn't be tricky at all. If I understand it correctly super saloons were running at a track. That track told some of their own registered drivers to stop off at home. Doesn't sound tricky at all, sounds like the wrong call to me. Que?

Just a question...coz i don't know... how does the BK series work, just for the contracted drivers, or can others enter at a particular track/time etc? I know that in Aus, WSS contracts 15 drivers/teams, just like the WOO, All Stars, ASCS etc, but they are open to anyone who wants to try their luck . Just wondering if it's the same.

BK and this series run different methods. BK had a saloon in their racing here. This series, as pointed out, has PRESET grids. This doesn't allow for outside cars.
Ben could find some mates and then you would get 2 lots of supers that night.

Why was this not sorted out before race night ,surely by now the class rep knows more about who is eligible to race in this series ,than allow ,these problems to commence come race night It is not a good look for the average punter that pays at the gate walks through the pits see,s his favourite cars then expects to see them race out on the track .,but is none the wiser about the politics be hind the scenes . Steve Williams who was once registered to the asscc now as a part timer i believe is not that harder bloke to deal with . I guess Bens Dad Bernie went home muttering a few words like back in the old days ,
