Here's the message from Warriors manager Cameron Jurgens confirming the situation with Maddie Wise:

Breaking News..... Wanganui Warriors 2020

136v Maddie Wise has unfortunately had to withdraw from this years teams champs campaign.
Upon seeking medical advice after experiencing some discomfort it has been revealed Maddie has a broken back. First and foremost this is a massive blow for Maddie, his family, friends, and people close to him, however he’s in good spirits and on the road to recovery.
Maddie, Paul and his family/crew are an integral part of our team and this is a huge loss for us!
We are excited to announce 6v Dion Mooney will pilot the 136v machine this weekend!
We can’t thank Maddie, Paul and his crew enough for offering up the 136v car, absolute legends!
Please show your appreciation to both of these Warriors when you see them this weekend!

The Warriors are fortunate to have a driver with the experience of Dion Mooney to fall back on. Best wishes to Maddie for a complete and speedy recovery.

Maddie's father has posted on FB that they haven't made the car available to "putt around doing nothing", and he and Maddie expect Dion to "do some damage"

Best wishes to Madddie Wise for sure and also Quintin Butcher and Dale Robertson. All made the commitment to put car and body on the line before suffering setbacks. At the end of the day there are plenty more years and nothing is more important than your health so hopefully those three and anyone else I've missed that's in the same boat enjoy their different roles this weekend.
Massive respect to Team Wise for still putting the car up!
