This Saturday 14 March... A must see event on the speedway calendar! All the big names are coming in an extravaganza of open wheel excitement and entertainment. Big horsepower, big wheel, big budget Sprintcars, Super Saloons, Midgets and Three Quarter Midgets will set McDonalds Kihikihi Speedway alight March 14!

This annual Sprintcar spectacular honours the legacy of Andrew and celebrates the union of family and speedway. Previous winners include Waikatos’ own open wheel superstar Daniel Thomas and Midget legend and Sprintcar ace Michael Pickens. Other podium finishers that are looking to grab the top spot for the first time include current New Zealand champ Manawatu’s Jamie Larsen and former 1NZ Dean Brindle. A full field of the best competitors from the North Island and maybe a couple from the south are expected to grace this memorial race meeting.

And the action doesn’t stop there. A full field of the best Midget drivers will race the Rosetown Midget 30 Lapper. This race never fails to entertain and if the 25 Lapper raced earlier this season is something to go by, then this race will be worth the entry fee alone!

TQ Midgets will race over three heats for the Dusty Rhodes Trophy. Clive ‘Dusty’ Rhodes was a founding member of our 65 year old club and a TQ racing legend therefore this trophy is holds plenty of prestigious value.

Also on the program will be the mighty Super Saloons racing for the King Country Champs. A rare appearance for this race class at Kihikihi Domain but when they race here, you can be assured of action a plenty.

So pack a picnic, bring a blanket, the family and your friends and join us at the home of Waipa’s dirt track action attraction located in the Kihikihi Domain. McDonalds Kihikihi Speedway, family friendly and making memories for 65 years. Only 30 minutes south of Hamilton Central, gates open at 2.30pm racing starts 5pm sharp!

Looks like 2NZA Michael Pickens is a late addition to what was an already classy Sprintcar field.
Now all that is needed is a bit of cloud cover to protect the track during that first hour or so, and all the ingredients will be there for a good night.

Doubt very much Pickens will be there as he was running in Perth for the West Australian speedcar title, and there are no indications that this event has been cancelled.

It should be a great meeting from what is posted and a few shots on face book ,but after a few resheduled days one cant make it ,so at a long guess Mr B Grace will be propping up the bar once again and enjoying himself ..

Pre race hot laps. Brindle, larsen and Edwards. Edward's over cooked corner and slams into wall and flipped. Larsen trying to avoid hits wall. Edward's was back out in heats. Larsen not looking good for feature. Hasn't raced a heat yet. Great night so far tho.

Is it correct that the King Country Super Saloon Champs feature got canned after 5 laps due to dust and the winner was based on the 2 ht races which wasn't the person leading the feature at the time of the race being called.
Sounds like the sprintcar feature was a dust bowl also.

Saloon feature was cut short due to dust. Was a bit disappointing tbh.

They had atleast a 10 minute break before it and said were going to do track prep. What we got was a ripper behind there grader rip up most of the track. Which tbh wasn't that bad to start with.
Think due to all the sun wasn't enough water in the track to start with.

Every time I've been track and track prep been real good I thought. Think the hot day just got to the track. Was sunny.
