Should be the same for streetstocks as well . Another boring class. Not exactly a class that draws a crowd or what you would call entertaining. Does the word hotdog spring to mind..

Streetstocks used to be a quiet entertaining class ,especially for those people that came to speedway not on a regular basis One thing that drew the attention to them was the holden vs ford scenario ,and a lot of younger generation people could relate to ,rather than stockcars with the same old drab ford Y body , Now it seems they have drifted off as age of the cars has a lot to do with it although many centra tracks still have them along with proddys Thats one thing about centra tracks they survive on the less expensive cars and after visiting Kaikohe and a few others in the north the crowds are well entertained ,with the press doing there bit in the local papers . But of course when you have had experiences with the bigger toys of Speedway many stick there noses in the air ,and the criticism opens up like a bow wave ,with the less unfortunate people who dont have the all mighty dollars to spend suffer from that ,but as they say Rome was not built in a day . From memory i think Rodney Wood ,and Steve Williams started in street stocks just to name a few so its not doom and gloom after all ...

Yep Rodney wood was 1993 nz streetstock champion and I remember watching Steve Williams trying to pass scrineering at Huntly with the yellow Falcon that Clark Proctor owned, yep production saloons are not the most exciting class spectator wise for some but it would be cool to race one.

I don't want to wander off topic, and I stand to be corrected here but don't the entry numbers for NZ Streetstock champs normally make it about the 3rd biggest NZ champs year in, year out.

Good class to get into Speedway, but driver where not traveling apart from the Few Regulars. there has been some very low fields in the Regional titles up Huntly, Kihikihi , Rotorua ways. Just like Minisprint they have died of in the Area.
Im for any class out on the track so not class bashing.
May be keep GP and NI / SI titles

Same could be said for superstocks Charlie . They boring as hell now to unless it’s a teams race. Round and round we go all it’s about the show . To much coin tied up in them now to go bashing every week like they were intended for 🤪🤪🤪

So many people i know [ including myself ] no longer bother going to speedway anymore unless it is a teams meeting.

Its unfortunate for the competitors. But a low budget class is always going to struggle with getting comperiyors to travel. As for streetstocks still going strong in the south island bloody good entertainment

I do agree with this decision to drop the production grade back to regional there did seem to be a couple of clubs that jumped the gun to get them a nz status but for what?. The other grade that needs the chop is mini sprints in my opinion and just give them a north island title. It probably should of happened a few years ago after the class fell by the wayside down south.

We are talking about today , not the past . Many of the people mentioned were entertainers of the class and made streetstocks good to watch . But it is not the same today ..

Productions should never have been given champ status in the first place. Regarding streetstocks, they are still a great class to watch. But the rule makers are ruining the classes. Same as stockcars and stockcars. No longer contact grades, unless its teams.

Can someone pass onto SNZ a spelling mistake. Proposed Rule T10-2-4 (k) Liquid Cooled Engine – Suzuki GSX-R 750 (xv) Fuel Pump must be 2000-2019 Suzuki GSXR 750. (i) Approved part numbers are: 15100-35F00, 15100-35F10, 15100-29G00, 15100-01H00, 15100-14J00, 15100-14J01 If no part number sticker is present, the pump may be removed for inspection by a suitably experienced person, to ensure all parts are fitted as required. Removal of the fuel level sender (us) permissible

To those bashing Streetstocks come watch them in Dunedin far from boring 20 plus most meetings and the Dunners guys go real hard , Most nights they race for the spin belt .This years champs should see at least 70 entries as dunners has about 30 on the books mite be a hotdog grade for some, down here it's what part of the race do I watch. Dont agree with what theyve done with Productions now it will remain to be seen if numbers drop off hope not it's one of the last budget grades left

It is a shame that Proddies will lose their National status but to be honest i'm not surprised. Without going into the politics of the class it does seem that rule changes have held back the progress. I talk the class up as much as Possible at Meeanee and am a fan of grass roots racing but if it hadn't been for the regular Wanganui and Rotorua visitors HB would have struggled to put them on the track. It just hasn't grown like we all hoped it would. In my opinion too many of the cars look like Streetstocks and could certainly do with a cleaner looking image in the same mold as Saloon Cars should be. A tidy paint job and some nice signage/numbers doesn't have to cost a lot of $ and would definitely help the class develop it's own identity. Here's hoping the declassification of the Productions has the spin off effect of raising numbers again.
