Hi does anyone else have problems from clubs posting results.
Is there a easy way to find
Surely clubs can do better with technology we have now
Not always is it possible to attend meetings, but interest is there for those that are racing

I'd like to see clubs get an App created for their respective track, be real easy then to access results and other info.

But like most things speedway it needs someone with the right skills and who is prepared to volunteer their time to get it done or at least approach their local club and say hey, this is what I can do, do you need someone like me. If the club has funds to pay, then bonus.

Agree with what Chopper has said. Lots of people want lots of stuff from the few volunteers that give up their time at the track. I know in my case I give up a lot of time organising the fields for the Saloons classes at Waikaraka. Once one meeting is over I am straight into the next. I juggle this around a full time job as well.

Maybe if enough people expressed an interest SNZ could look at setting up something to export Dorian (the timing system used at most tracks) data. But this software has not been updated for a while.

Palmerston North used to have up by 10am next day , now none
Oceanview there is none
Is this all the information we are going to be able to get
Lap times and where a car finishes etc are what makes the sport interesting

You do know about livelaps right?

Livelaps means your timing system is exposed to the internet and hackers. Most tracks do not have the IT knowhow to keep this protected effectively.

The speedway live app use to be good. Doesn't seem accurate now.

Shows MP 3rd in Sprintcar feature.

Use to be able to hear commentary too,may have just been Baypark.

Some use live stream
Others use what ever
Yet no one seems to put up on face book or there web site
Surely not that hard to do, so drivers or crew at big meetings have to crowd and jussle to find out if they have qualified or not.
Or there team members and sponsors which are unable to attend especially now with covid can see where they are at to follow

The AMB system run at Western Springs feeds live into the race monitor app which provides real time data including lap times. The data is then posted on the Speedhive site for prosperity. The app covers pretty much all the major dirt tracks around the world as well as circuit racing and other forms of motorsport. Not sure if the Dorian system feeds into the race monitor app. By the absence of any such tracks doing so I will suggest probably not.

I don't imagine many clubs would be especially keen to fork out money for a new lap scoring system. Though long-term ideally that is what needs to happen so as a sport we can make this information accessible to all.

My computer has given up and died, I get a new one next week.

This report with unedited photo's went up on the Stuff website at lunch time Sunday and was in Mondays Manawatu Standard newspaper.

There are a couple of typo's:

* there were 203 competitors
* only Scott Joblin raced, not Adam and Simon as well
* it's Cody Hodge going up in sparks, not his twin brother Seth

There is a 33 minute live steam pit walk that was viewed over 8,500 times and reached over 25,000 on Go Slideways TV on facebook.

There is also the feature of the Lucas Oil Superstock Series on there as well, unofficial live streaming isn't allowed at Palmy but I did it for the Superstock feature only, as I don't have a dictaphone to take notes for the write up - which isn't easy to take photo's and at the same time summarize 20 races in exactly 500 words. The Stuff deadline is 7.30am, I didn't write the Stuff headline.
Was good fun though.

This is a myth that has prevented SpeedwayLive from being a resource for ALL.

I should know I built it ... AND hence after years of battling with old school misconceptions I gave up.

Now I concentrate on the Australian market where they are more open to pushing their tracks forward. eg. The Perth Motorplex uses SpeedwayLive attached to their MyLaps system.

FYI Wellington and Stratford have been using it for years ... ask them have they ever been hacked

The main reason tracks dont use SL is it show the lack of training and the mistakes of the Lap Scorers are exposed. UNTIL Speedway NZ takes control over this there will never be any consistency. As volunteers turn over 1/2 knowledge and incorrect practices are passed down.

A team of trained Lap Scorers should attend every championship as they do with Refs / Stewards etc. By trained I mean trained not someone who has done it for years thinking they know what they are doing, Ive seen these people make major mistakes simply cos they know no better.

SO When Speedway NZ goes to MyLaps and the results are feed through SpeedHive like Western Sprints are you also telling me they will be "hacked"

I have worked with MyLaps for the last few years, and many of there improvements for Oval Track has come from what we did with SpeedwayLive. They are currently improving some feature to make it easier for the NZ market.

Ive been passionate about Lap Scoring for many years. Which now sees me involved with the World Series Sprintcar. NATSOFT isn't as bad as what everyone say, ITS THE LACK OF TRAINING that is the short fall.

OK...I probably worded my reply wrong. I am not accusing LiveLaps of having issues, but the issue remains that for livelaps to work you need the timing network exposed to public internet. Many clubs do not have the budget or knowledge to ensure their network is properly protected and secured. To secure things properly, you need a stateful firewall tat is upgraded on a regular basis to protect against new vulnerabilities as they become know.

As for training on Natsoft, yes, I fully agree. I am battling to get information about this software, the recommended specs and even a copy of the current release and I keep going round in circles - often ending up at Dorian (who make the hardware but not the software). I agree that SNZ needs to take a more active role in the timing software to get something more universal. Ultimately a Dark fibre connection to each track that feeds back into a central system that goes to a SNZ results webpage.

My question is - who is the authorised agent and support person for Natsoft in NZ? Is there anyone?

Speedway live (live laps) is good there is a delay between lap times and commentary.
It would be great if all tracks throughout NZ used this or something similar. But some tracks dont have the skills, some dont like something they cant control/own, some believe that they will loose $$$ as spectators will stay home (same with live streaming).
There are now similar problems with tracks using apps/web for drivers to register each week. Now the idea of drivers registering to race via an app each week is great but each track seems to use a different app.
SNZ need to combine their license app with driver registration, calander and race results all in one. But different track owners/promoters/clubs all want their own and will complain about cost, but each track spending $3k on their own system = $60k+ that SNZ could use?

The developers of SL offered a all in one solution to SNZ. They have choose their own direction ... Unfortunately as with most things, this will take too long, and track will end up going in their own direction therefore fragmenting the sport even more ...

Instead CTRA have jumped at the chance and are make huge advances ... racecontrol.nz/

Speedway Australia has just also released an app that does most of what you have mentioned ...

if you go onto the stratford speedway face book page the day after the meeting you will find results of each race and winners of any championship that were run that night i think a few of the other tracks do the same to

Woodford glen normally have results posted within an hour of the race on their website
