Hi Sonia Totally understand your in the middle of practice and a huge weekend. But is there anyway you are able to give an update on the Clubs feelings with regards to the weather before people travel tomorrow. Met service is showing a huge amount of rain on both Saturday & Sunday. When will a call be made to hopefully help a massive amount of people make plans & if postponed hopefully soon enough so that a lot of people can change plans & get to the Meeting later in the week?

You are right, Sonja has a huge amount on, and I'm not sure whether she'll see this tonight or not. I get where you're coming from, but the problem is that you're really asking "how long is a piece of string?"
The forecasts appear to suggest that rain will hit here at 7pm tomorrow night, the scheduled time of the first qualifying heat. It was a beautiful evening this evening and the skies are even clearer now. Based on that information no club is going to make a call 24 hours out to postpone. What if they postpone and the rain arrives at 11pm instead of the predicted 7pm? They'd be roasted alive by the 130 odd competitors that are already here, as they could of at least got through qualifying. It really is a no win situation, and I feel very sorry for any club that has to endure this. I just hope either the forecast clears overnight or heavy rain hits early, one way or t'other, so some form of decision can be made to assist as many people as possible. But there's no way they can just say "Tuesday and Wednesday" either. It'll be a day by day proposition.
Moving to March (yes, the seasons are changing) is dangerous too, as a rain out late in the season can leave no wriggle room to find another suitable date, especially after all of the Teams Racing. The entry list late March/early April would look nothing like the one Rotorua has this weekend.
Go the sun!!!!!!

Rain will begin well before 7pm Barry. Thanks Tony. Had three different people talk about 7pm today, including a chopper pilot who checked his source at 4pm this arvo. After you predicted that lightning storm to hit WG late afternoon while we were all sweating under a hot sun and cloudless sky, and it did!!!! I'd trust you more than any other Tony, even though I don't like your answer. Look, all I can really do is chat with Sonja at regular times during the day tomorrow, and post here as soon as they make ANY form of decision. I'm so glad the decision isn't mine.

Barry, you are doing an amazing job of communicating on all levels.
You are in the know and connected to those that can make the decisions. So there are not soo many weather threads, and Sonja and team have lots on their plate. I suggest shut this thread down.
Ridiculous asking Sonja to be able to post in my humble opinion. other weather threads are there.
