Promotors dream, talent evenly spread throughout the eight groups. Race three of qualifying in each group promises to be brutal. And the weather looking promising too, no chance of what happened in Rotorua repeating.

Some of those groups defy words. The Orange Group is my Group of Death, including Dion Mooney, Callum Sturzaker, Alec Wilson, Kyle Rowe, Pumba Symes and David Lowe for starters; good luck picking three qualifiers there! Likewise the Purple Group has Luke Miers, Mark Duthie, Dale Robertson, Gerry Linklater and Richard Keijzer, or the Green Group with Mitch Vickery, Josh Prentice, Bryce Jensen, Regan O'Brien and Harley Robb. Bear in mind only three drivers go through directly, plus three each from the two repecharges on Saturday night, so anyone qualifying his well and truly defied the odds. My only worry for the weekend, with dry, warm weather predicted, is the track holding up for 24 12-lap smashfests on Saturday night with 30 cars per race, in the first round at least. Can't wait   |
