The 'Winged Wonders' are back at the Robertson Holden International Speedway this Saturday night for the PN PartsWorld North Island Sprintcar Championship. These are the fastest cars on dirt and will provide motorsport enthusiasts with spectacular wheel-to-wheel racing, as competitors from around the North Island and USA battle for this prestigious title.
The entry list contains local hero and hard-charging driver Jamie Larsen - a favourite for the event, along with Midget and 1nz Sprintcar sensation Michael Pickens who has had a successful season so far. The special inclusion of Jonathon Allard from the USA track of Chico, California adds to the spectacular array of drivers attending this National championship.
Formidable drivers from Auckland and Tauranga include Jamie McDonald, Raymond Griffen and Rodney Wood. Local heroes Greg Pickerill, Dean Cooper and Stephen Taylor - current North Island Sprintcar Champion, will look to capitalise on their home track advantage. This is sure to be one of the best nights of high powered spectacular Sprintcar action.
The carnage of the metal-crunching Stockcars will battle it out to take the prestigious title honours of the Machinery Specialists Manawatu Stockcar Championship with Local drivers and current Manawatu Stockcar Champion 722P David Lowe will be looking to hold onto the accolade which he has held for a few short months, but within grasp of the title after a successful season and showing they are on the pace are Palmerston North Pumas member 172p Daniel Burmeister, season points chase leader 667p Hamish McLeod who are all within grasp of the title and up for real contention of the title. The Manawatu Stockcar Championship title has a rich history of past champions which makes this a title that is always hotly contested
The SuperStocks put on some excellent racing at the previous 248 SuperStock Global Challenge and look to continue this electric display at this meeting. Local favourites will once again show why they are the ultimate class in speedway.
The Youth Ministocks, with drivers aged from 12 to 16 years will amaze the crowds with their driving skills as they race for the glory of taking a chequered flag. The Youth Ministock class has seen several of the country’s top competitors in
a variety of classes starting out in these ranks.

The high octane action will be one not to miss at the Robertson Holden International Speedway. Admission prices are $25 for an adult (16 years and over), $10 for children aged 8-15, and $60 for a family pass of 2 adults and up to four children. Kids aged 7 and under are FREE.
Gates for entry are at Gate 1 Waldegrave & Gate 3 Cook Streets and these gates open from 5pm. Gates accept both Cash & EFTPOS Payments (no credit card) but in order to move the line quickly we recommend coming prepared with cash. There will be plenty of food vendors on site which accept cash & EFTPOS payments. Racing gets underway at 6.30pm.
