I'll kick the rumour mill off with , a super saloon competitor of the early 90's who had an NZ no on his car is rumoured to be converting his dirt track super saloon into a SNZ super saloon and competing at WP. Hope the rumours are true. Also will there be any super saloon series in the NI next season??

Bruce raced at Waikaraka a couple of years ago in a older looking saloon that looked like it was a Meremere type dirt car, only did one meeting so I thought it might be him.

I would say that is a pretty good guess. Bruce was racing at Waikaraka last weekend as part of the Meremere Dirt Track Club day (pictured above). The last time I remember him their was the Super Saloon Masters event a few seasons ago, which is likely the meeting you are referring too. In the meantime I think he has been peddling at the Waiheke Island race track. I was too young to see much of Bruce's career. But I remember him racing the 97/98 season in a white #97 Super, and was an absolute rocketship.

BB is a super cool dude, a real gentleman and very knowledgeable on car setup. Was Maccas set up guy this past season. Has been 3NZ and 2NZ but the 2NZ was taken off him thru finishing the race with no bonnet. Hopefully he does turn out, chassis 30 yrs old, motor ex think McDonald super. Gearbox failure sat. DVS Public F/B page says the series has ended. Hope WP and Huntly pick up the slack and put on more Super Saloon racing. Be shame to see Supers fall into despair again after no's increased due to Burger King and DVS series which both now folded.

Centra tracks will host this class Super saloons more as the entertainment value decreases ,the enthusiasm even by promoters isnt there no more ,and the cars themselves hardly resemble a factory made model . Its time by the competitors to have a major rethink on models etc maybe the jap and european look may attract more sponsors the horsepower is the same if not bigger ,and the modern generation can relate too than the old bangers of the past ..

Id pay to watch a tesla super saloon Being the old school where if it doesn't make noise it isn't a race car, if it isn't in imperial it isn't measurement or weight or pound, shillings and pence it ain't money but slowly before going to the great speedway in the sky getting converted. A few weeks back on Wheelers and Dealers on Choice TV they did a program on a Maserati Bi Turbo which had been started to be converted to electric in 93. Sadly the owner passed away before his dream was completed. They brought the car off his Widow and took on the task of completing it. They took the car to a firm that specialise's in converting classic cars to electric. Threw out the 93 set up, batteries would of been ex forklift weighing 1/2 tonne. Put in latest electric motor, batteries etc, far more light weight and bigger performance and on the road it out performed the original bi turbo motor in all aspects and even had a noise. Long winded way of saying the future may be electric super saloons and quicker. As an earlier post said, Euro and Jap cars need adding to the field to appeal to the newer generation. They like motorsport just not American v8's, just look at drifting and rotary and 4's attendance. Is there any new saloon or supers for the coming season or owner changes.
