If we go to orange it should happen : But he has to know its still red to get the government assistance thats on offer for an event over 5000 people So this is just a publicity stunt for a government subsidy? Did you even have half a clue how offensive that comment is?.

Sorry, but what’s offensive is that keeping people hanging on for hope (and we all are hoping this is on) when it’s more than likely not. Hence why other events are being cancelled so people don’t loose monies paid for accommodation, travel etc.
Unlike other destinations you don’t just say let’s go to Palmy for a weekend and do what compared to perhaps Auckland, Queenstown, or Rotoura….
Apologies in advance…

They (because they can) are pushing an event that most probably won’t happen so they (because they can) by doing this will get a subsidy…. How else do you see it…

Use some of the profits from past years if you need too. Thats what other businesses are having to do. Take the good with the bad

With the event still over six weeks away, & some ‘experts’ predicting we could be over the peak in another 2-4 weeks, then this event certainly does have a chance. And put the shoe on the other foot, can you imagine the complaints if they’d called it today?

I think especially given the present climate and crisis in the world ,every $dollar saved from past events would be far better reserved in the bank for better use ..

So this is just a publicity stunt for a government subsidy? Did you even have half a clue how offensive that comment is?. Did you know there is a subsidy in place for a postponement of an event over crowds of 5000 and then there is also a subsidy for a canceled event, So you postpone it or cancel it, get payout. And I'm sure you have to postpone the event to a date to get the canceled payout. Think its 90% you get paid out of the events takings. I'm not saying that Bruce is doing this but the comment above may not be wrong.

Yep, I can see most businesses lining up for that! Not. (It is 90% of his expenses he would get paid back, at most. He would still need to refund 100% of tickets)

The new restrictions in place and are about to happen on ferry crossings due to covid and staff who operate them ,will certainly impact those who may of attended from the Sth Island . One ferry operator will only allow trucks only with the driver ,no passengers ...
On a happier note the last shipment of oil has arrived at Marsden Point ,Nzs only oil refinery will close ,ask Megan Woods she has all the answers ,

We may have a better idea this time next week going by todays anouncemint What was announced today You asked the question 4 days after driftwood made the statement, so his "today" has long since passed. There has been suggestions crowd sizes may be able to increase, but for the Teams to 'go off' as normal it'd need to be unlimited crowd sizes allowable. That is still up in the air, but we may get more idea this week. Barry B
