I hope they cut the Grand Parade back this year to just the teams. It won't be the same at 5pm as on a warm summer's night. Get the teams out there and done, and have the first race underway by 5.30pm.

I would be happy with racing to start at 5pm.

To be honest, I think the parade lap is a total waste of time. It doesn't add anything to the meeting for me and I could do without it.

I usually try get there after the parade haha. But how much is it for advertising reasons. I don't think much has to with the event for a spectators prospective but from a commercial point of view think it's a must. If you don't like it vote with ya feet. An empty stadium. Where everybody queuing for food beers and a toilet they will sit up and take notice.

Grand parade needs to be restricted to just the drivers on the cars to many slappers and hangeroners join in now.

Grand parade needs to be restricted to just the drivers on the cars to many slappers and hangeroners join in now. These "slappers and hangeroners" are usually family of the drivers and crew who seem to enjoy the moment showing their support for their team and after the sacrifices they make missing out on family time so their partners can maintain the cars I'm not going to be-grudge them their moment of enjoyment. If it really bothers anyone simply turn up at 5.30, I personally dont care about watching the haka before a rugby game so don't tune in till kick-off.

Oh, you're talking about Night 2. Considering the Parade is at 5pm (both nights) and racing is scheduled from 6pm (both nights, correct me if I'm wrong), the parade is effectively pre-meeting entertainment and is not taking any time out of the race meeting itself at all. Cancel vehicle checking and start the racing at noon. Barry B

My logistics for Saturday are "challenging" so if it is 6pm (I'm not fussed about the parade), that makes things far easier.

No. That was what I'd best describe as an educated guess going by past years. Their newspaper advertising actually says "Racing starts at 5pm", but their schedule states this; S A T U R D A Y 12.30pm- Competitor & Crew Entrance via Gate 3 Cuba Street 1pm- General Public Gates open – All gates. Tickets will be available to purchase from Gate 2 (Bridge), Gate 3 (Cook) and Backfield. Gate 1 (Waldegrave Street) and 4 (Pascal Street) is entry for pre-purchased ticket holders only. 1.30pm – 3.30pm- Scrutineering will be held in the speedway pits from 1.30pm – this will be for ticket holders only. 3.30pm – 4pm- Driver signing session (weather dependent, either outside under the bridge or barber hall) Come along and grab your favourite team’s autographs! 3.45pm- Managers Meeting 4.15pm- Drivers Meeting 5pm- Grand Parade Racing commences after Grand Parade Club rooms will be open after racing. S U N D A Y 1pm- Competitor & Crew Entrance via Gate 3 Cuba Street 2pm- General Public Gates open – All gates. Tickets will be available to purchase from Gate 2 (Bridge), Gate 3 (Cook) and Backfield. Keep in mind drivers, crew and family’s consider this a highlight. Can you imagine the buzz with thousands cheering and waving to you. Pretty cool.

YES!! Now he was more entertaining than some grand parade. There was a clown one year, 2012 I think, but a guy in a big truck squashed his BMW and I haven't seen him since.
