It's with great sadness that we announce that one of our Foundation Members Tony Baker has passed away. Tony had raced at Rugby Park and was the first President from 1969 to 1972, first Life Member and one of the Committee that sourced and created the track where we are today. Tony was probably the Club's first Super Hero in his 4R Stockcar a car that has been beautifully replicated by Murray Fleet. Tony spent a few nights at the track this past season including both nights at Easter when he knew his time was short and was thrilled with what has been achieved since those early days in the 1970s. Without the foresight and vision of this early group, Paradise Valley Speedway wouldn't exist today. We are truly indebted to these early members. Rest In Peace Tony

Well before my time in the sport, but everybody with any interest in our history knows about Tony Baker. RIP to a true legend. And well written Sonja.

Those were the memories as kids at Paradise Valley: rolling down the pumice hills, drums for pole lines and the special memories of watching 4 R Tony Baker. Haere atu Tony kei tua o te arai i roto i te aroha o nga ringa a te Atua. Nga mihi atu ki te whanau.
