What were people's thoughts on the first night? I felt it lacked action as Drivers/teams knew they needed a lot of points and not just a race win to have any chance of making the top 4. Would be interested to hear what drivers prefer. 4 groups of 3 or as many teams as possible. Seems like a great opportunity for the promoter to get teams to the Auckland team's nationals. Limit the Palmy event to 12 teams and those that enter the Auckland event the year prior get auto entry to the palmy event, exemptions for GB and maybe C, N vote on the poll macgor.proboards.com/thread/38862/palmy-teams-champs-restricted-12

No lack of action for me. First time attending and thought out of the 14 races there were probably only 2 dud ones

Panthers v Otago and Eastern States (and the old Glen Eagles and Kihikihi from way back) were always lacking in action during the days of twelve teams champs, particularly as they often seemed to draw both of them if they were both entered!

There’s no doubt that the format of more than 12 teams does change mindset night 1 and make it a points race.
I’m not sure how it can be solved, there can only ever be 4 groups, and with racing only twice night 1 you need 3 per group. Anymore and we need the format this year.
I’ve always wondered about top 8 teams from year previous get auto entry into the event, and the rest need some sort of qualifying pre qualification races well prior to event to decide the final 4 teams.
