Looking forward this 81st running of Australian Speedcar/or Midget Championship whichever you prefer lol. big field of cars over 40 contest 2 nights of competiton at new Eastern Creek Speedway. Hayden Williams nz1 looking for double, be up against some strong competiton including team mate T Mez in Jordon Bros Bullet/Esslinger. with another top contender #70 Brady Bacon racing ex 1AU from last season Matt Smith. USA drivers have done pretty well this event since 2002-03 with Cory Krusemann being first overseas driver win been 8 other winners since then. one from NZ back 2016 with of course MP. Actually michael pickens came very close before then winning his title before deflating tyre saw him finish 3rd. one the heartbreak stories back 1997 when Graham Standring got so close. eventually not finishing handing the win over Craig Brady.
here's confirmed list.. credit Australian Speedcar Championship page on Fb.

Did you see the comment on Pickens face book page regarding these meeting Interesting how he is only running the midget this weekend as well .. Definitely suprised he's not there Australia. would of thought unable take his own car due to expensive costs. that GJR team who usually run 2 cars at title would had that one as Alex Bright not contesting the title . Can understand just racing Midget not been in that well over 2 months since pickens 54 race. wheres Sprintcar done few meetings of late. i guess about getting both cars out on track often as possible. wanna give sponsors much exposure as you can.

The physical and mental toll running both the midget and sprintcar can’t be underestimated, especially with a 51 lap midget race. I can understand him wanting to concentrate purely on the midget the Baypark meeting.
Would love to see Hayden Williams bring home the Aussie title. He must rate a reasonable chance.

Bit of practice in the Midget before the Title at Stratford I'd say.

Dont forget before midget title comes around April , also Seamount NZ Midget car gp and BT 4 Mates March 18th and 19th down at Ruapuna. shouldnt feel short on race fitness.

Agree but he's definitely no stranger racing both cars on big night especially when have 50 lapper and 25 lap feature when we had sum racing at the springs. least gives his team bit of break setting up both cars on same night. HW will be competitive in car he hasnt run for awhile Q 82 Breka car. it's very good lineup including recent winner last weekend Michael Stewart, well as Kaidon Brown back in Midget after doing most of his racing Sprintcar over xmas/new year. really difficult go past 2 flying Americans all their seat time.

Night 1 of Australian Speedcar/Midgets. After 2 rounds by my calculation leading on points are Kaidon Brown and T Mez with couple 2nd placings, Kaleb Currie 2nd and 3rd. Michael kendall 2nd and 4th. USA Driver Brady Bacon 1st and 4th. some of the best performers.
Hayden Williams has bit to do with 6th and DNF was classified with 9th.
Each driver gets 3 rounds then top 8 make pole shuffle rest 9-24th qualify through B mains.

This result was not unexpected Peter Murphy made great comment at NZ Sprintcar champs in reference. not that are any better or equipment is better. massive difference USA Drivers do so much more seat time. can just turn up any track always race ready.
