3 Groups of 17, 1 with 18 = 69 starters, perhaps 3 Groups of 23 would suffice??? Unlike the new zealand superstocks where it was criminal for huntly to even try run 6 groups. Here I don't mind it. One they had to many for 3 car groups when draw was done. And second the type of title it is. You don't mind smaller fields with more groups on quilfying night. I hope stratford have a plan b as they will only get two groups on night two so could be a class or two short.

Huntly still had more cars per group on track for "Take 2" (even though the total entry was slightly less than "Take 1" of the title, which was rained off) than Stratford has, based on their website 24 hours out from the event (where there could still be more withdrawals). Yet it was "criminal" for Huntly to run that number, yet it's okay for Stratford to run less cars per race? Why is that? I think Stratford had 79 entries when they did the draw. That's only one more car than 3 groups of 26 - and there are ALWAYS withdrawals. If Huntly should have gone to five groups, then surely Stratford should have gone to three groups using the very same logic? "The type of title it is?" What difference does that make? "You doin't mind smaller fields with more groups on qualifying night?" Who is this "You" that doesn't mind? Barry B

Barry B New zealand Champs should be the very top principle event for individuals to aim for. And should get treated as such in my mind. I mean the 40 plus drivers who didn't enter the north islands but did the new zealands seem to also agree with me. you should be racing as full to full fields at a n.z title. Less is more for a fan and the show. At a lesser title like the north islands I really don't mind seeing mid to late teen number of cars on track. As this represents the fact its not as meaningful to fans and drivers alike. But under 20 superstocks for a n.z on track sounds like i wasnt the only punter disappionted by huntlys decision to run 6 groups the way it eventually played out. Not sure why you brought up take 1. As it never happen and is a big what could of been not what was.

Hb are you ever happy with anything in regards superstocks? Stop complaining and go get a car to drive or get on the board and help and run the class how you want it run

Nobody would disagree with you that any New Zealand title is the pinnacle of the sport in each individual class. Always has been, always will be. That is what the finals are all about, not necessarily qualifying (in my opinion anyway).
I mentioned Take 1 because the meeting structure was formed around the entry for the first attempt with 6 groups named after six legends of Waikato Stockcar/Superstock scene. Early indications were that Take 2 would attract an entry list of the same sort of quantities, with a number of SI'ers indicating that while they weren't on the list the first time they would be the second time around. Then the ferries started causing problems and a cyclone devastated parts of New Zealand. The exact final numbers for Huntly (which are never known until the day of the event) means five groups would have worked better than six, yes, as would three groups worked better than four at Stratford. But re-drawing groups on the day of the event is not really the way to approach things, for a variety of reasons. I hope Stratford aren't down to 12-13 car grids by heat 3 tonight.

But I do believe for greater speedway viewing experience fuller fields for quilfying night is what I value as a fan.

So it's going to be a S/P v G/K teams race? Lets hope so, last night was pretty much just a procession of Superstocks. I understand why being qualifying, not complaining but let's hope tonight we see some more bumpers being used.

Not hard to change a format, same ones that support the low car number group formats will probaly complain about there being no action 🤣 full fields = action and happy fans Small fields = follow the leader & bored fans and makes it way harder for drivers to qualify when theres more groups than needed one spin and ya done and casual fans dont rush back when they see un eventful racing

Cars are turning laps in the 17 seconds range, there's not much time for mucking round if you want to qualify, slow down and your at the back real quick it seems from watching last night
