This from Nelson FB page:
The South Island title is next week in Christchurch, but with no S.I. teams going to Auckland for the NZ Teams title, that should have a top line up to follow on from the GP.
That means no Canterbury Crushers, 2nd at the event in Huntly last season, and also no Otago Outlaws who finished a creditable 5th after beating the Pumas & the Stormers, only losing to the Raiders. Never mind the other teams of past years, namely Nelson Tasman Thunder, Eastern States Titans, Greymouth Grizzlies, Central Coyotes & Southland Spartans.

Greymouth Grizzlies Stockcar Team January 21 at 8:21 PM To our loyal fans & supporters, Between the Grizzlies Management and Drivers, we have made the difficult decision to not attend the national teams title in Auckland this year. Unfortunately during the Mainlands teams event in December, we suffered some significant injuries and the depth within our squad is just not at the point to attend a national event yet. Colin and I take the health of our drivers incredibly seriously and make this descion with the upmost regard for their wellbeing. Whilst we would love to be there, our lads have partners and kids to come home to and speedway will never be bigger than that. All is not lost! We are working hard to organise some teams events within the South Island this season to get some practice in and debut some more lads. We want to thank our sponsors, fans and crew for their continued support and we hope to provide you with a date soon of when we will be hitting the track again. Cheers, Eve 🐻

We (Pumas) finished up 5th overall last season after a much needed win over Otago in T2 final But ya right gutting the South couldnt back up a team and ride the momentum of last season and even gather those who wanted to teams race together and contract to one track. Was looking close to being back to 12 teams and group qualifying format but Id think we are still 3 short with... A,H,R,G,B,S,V,P,W The 6 cars per team any 4 on track no reserve driver this season is certainly a welcome addition to this seasons event!

Fingers crossed I can make this event. Although sorry Stu, I won't be cheering for your team. I'm sure you won't take it personally Barry B

Barry B Have not heard anything from the meetings I have been to at Baypark. In saying that I haven't been to alot of meets and stockcars have not run that often. I am not optimistic they will have a team.
