So I heard that peter murphy owns ?or runs a couple of race tracks in the usa .. The council want motorsport removed form the springs and have no money (yeah right) How long before wacky park gets rebuilt ? so if they can use the land by the airport why not get some people involved to build and run a new open wheel race track Meremere is a great idea but for the casual fans and family travelling 80km and over the bombays can be a deterrent. peoples thoughts on this ??

Meremere was my closest track once upon a time. Barry B

The only hope for a privately owned stadium is that someone would be silly enough to do it without expecting a return.
A $40 million investment into a stadium would have to generate $1 million annual profit to make a pathetic 2.5% ROI. You'd be better off having your money in the bank. Such a speedway stadium would be lucky to generate $2 million in revenue let alone $1 million profit.
As for using Baypark as a blueprint, that place was fundamentally compromised by trying to accommodate rugby (which ended up leaving). We need to learn from what went wrong at Baypark, not copy it.
