Stephen Taylor took out 1st placing in the South island Sprintcar Champs at Ruapuna tonight.Driving the Nelson based Landon Dawson #9 Sprint car he jumped to the front and was never headed off.Mid race Jamie Larsen closed the gap and was right on Taylors bumper but a yellow light incident had the cars bunched up but on green Taylor was gone.Larsen grabbed 2nd and Max Guilford in the Daniel Anderson # 46 3rd after a late pass on the new NZ #1 Joel Myers jnr.Dylan Forsey and Conner Rangi were the next across the line.Great night of racing on a very warm Christchurch evening.

I wonder if they going to change the rule back again since North Islanders took top 3 positions in South Island title.

I wonder if they going to change the rule back again since North Islanders took top 3 positions in South Island title. I hope not it adds real value to what can be somewhat meaningless events bring it on doubt that anyone from the South Island would be complaining. Just means they still have a wee way to go

I wonder if they going to change the rule back again since North Islanders took top 3 positions in South Island title. Would they also need to exclude international drivers? Australia doesn’t allow internationals at the title events. Great to see competitors travelling around the country and crossing the straight

As a spectator we come and enjoy the racing ,pay at the gate ,travel overseas to see top line sprintcar action ,and midget racing at the chilli bowl ,and who cares about those that should not be entitled to race in a championship You dont see SVG being rejected from racing world wide nor M Pickens ,some people just cant see past there nose at the thought of a overseas drivers winning ,how many burst into tears when Sammy one a title ,and more recently Joel Meyers JR now the N Z champ which raced in this title ...

Yes and Matt Leversedge getting 3rd in the North island Sprint car champs.Don't think any body in the North was upset with that.Racing at Ruapuna has really lifted and so has the spectator attendance. Alot of thanks must go to the car owners in the South and the drivers they are putting into their cars.

When fulltime professional drivers come down under against Amateur racers winning there titles is fine right lol actually no its not . we have comparison of those run 80 to 100 race meetings compared to 20 to 25 that are raced down here. lets keep it to level playing field. Like they do Australia with their Sprintcar Championship excluding overseas racers,

But then not all overseas drivers are a touch of class when competing down here are they in championship meetings . And the cars they drive can also be a bag of liquorice all sorts ,plus i thought you were looking forward to seeing Joel MeYERS jr race at the Springs
