Back in the Eighties, there was a bloke named Garnett Brindson who was a streetstock pilot, then had a Mustang Saloon and then had a brief foray into the ex Johnny Reader Modified. Does anyone know what happened to the old outlaw???

yeh i remember Garnett Pete...bloody nice guy...pedalled valiants when i met hin, then falcons. racking the memory now,but im sure he had a pete robinson stockcar, rover powered..and swapped it with Terry Halls 16c valiant vg streety.{terry went on to really punish this awsum wee car 16c..a good car}. i raced with Garnett many titles in the south-seemed a real "gentleman jim" character. built a falcon, then faded from the tracks completly.

Too true Bruce. My last personal dealings with GB were when he bought the ex Johnny Reader Ford powered Mod. Johnny had taken possesion of a Kuriger Modified that went real well and ended up in the hands of Mike Gourley many yaers ago now. Anywhoo, GB bought the car over to me to fit the Henry in and we needed a body for it as the original was a metal one and REAL ugly. Darryl Hammond came to the rescue with a pretty battered deal of the ex Bob Smith Kuriger Stockcar that Darryl and Grandad were running before their permanent move to the summer holiday home of Palmy North. So the glass Ford Y was glued back together and tidyed and GB ran as 43e for quite a while. He 'teams raced' a bit with and for me to help me get a placing at the Malborough Champs that season as the likes of Reader and John Newman were playing Stockcars to keep the Modified Title there in Blenheim but we still managed to hold on to 2nd thanks to Garnett!!! He raced well and always had time for a yarn and a beer and was always there to help you when you needed it!! Great guy!!! Hope he is still well and happy and these postings unearth some more stories about him. Hard case but always the gentleman!!! Keith Ferguson came into work on Friday and I gave him this web address so we may hear from another Blenheim Icon soon
