I noticed in The Team Green thread a few down the page parked next to 118A Ian Sloane, is one of my favourite cars from Wanganui.
From memory, and this is a good 10 years now that it was 73V Ashley McKenzie and ran as a Superstock at Oceanview for one or two seasons.
Definitely looked the part and hummed along quite nicely
IMHO The best presented car to ever come from the real oval by the ocean, and probably one of the best presented in the country at the time.
Does anybody a) Have more information about the car, and b) does anybody have some photos of the beast they could possibly post on here or pm through to me, in fact any pictures of any Wanganui Superstocks over the years, even A Graders would be awesome.
Would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

I believe that before Ashley had that car it was owned by Paul Grant. Red chassis, Green body 51v. Will have a look through my photos later and see what I can find.

Great photos!!! As an aside, that car next to Ash's is the ex Merv Mead 15h,Russell Harrop/Brett Giles 26p, Kuriger/Holden V8 that went from Mr Watkins(?)26v to Dean Watts 88p to Dion(MACKAS) up North 232wg. Now onto the thread............................ The next season I think was when the front bumper got the Wayne Buckthought designed,Darryl Hammond inspired flat chassis update that served this old car so well!!!!

i think dean watts car came from down south 23c ?? 26v Richard Watkins, then 51s Jay Knight, then 21s Sam Radford, then 21s Jeff See (driven by Fraser Booker), then to the South Island, then 88p Dean Watts, then Dion in Whangarei. Fairly positive.that this is correct.
