I'll come and do your dishes for ya if you can find heat three for us!!! ;D Awesome weekend back when Mods were everywhere and everyone could afford to run 'em. No methanol,no real expensive fancy bits, you didnt really need a quickchange to be competitive and most guys were still building their own engines!!!! This thread and all thats been added to it is GREAT!!!! Thanks to all involved!!!

Yep,Berty in the Old CAE Built Sprintcar and most definitley Ian Verral in the Turbo'd(?) Pinto Engined deal.
Ian was the owner of Roundabout Services who was one of the first you could buy decent racegear off.Stuff like 3" Simpson belts, firesuits, tear offs etc etc. He was right into Karting gear as well. Awesome man to deal with!!
Is he still around???

Ian is living a life away from speedway down in the Waihi area, I was in touch with him about two years ago and he seemed to be happy with his lot. Here is another Legend. Ray Jones: That car is being restored currently.

thanks for the brilliant photos from when modifieds were interesting and exciting, wish they had stayed with low compression 350cu on petrol and no quick changes.

thanks for the brilliant photos from when modifieds were interesting and exciting, wish they had stayed with low compression 350cu on petrol and no quick changes. Me to, All that got thrown out at Conference in preference to Pitcher,Dewer and Co wanting 406's,Methanol and no weight limit. That stuff got through by ONE vote!!! (Where are these guys now???......With the rest of us that cant afford to keep up!! ) At least the weight thing got sorted later on but by then the rot had set in and a once burgening class has become what it is today!! I know you cant live in the past and all that, but if only people could have seen what was going to happen in the future, those bad decisions would have never been made!!

Its called progress Pete... It is a bit of a shame the Mod class has lost some of its identity but its never to late to alter a few things to make the class more attractive to new guys n gals wanting in. Bring back Morris commercials and steel 3" axles!! ;D
